Just kidding Shinster!
I, myself, like the crazy over the top racers. |
I like all racers.
F-Zero is awesome b/c it so freaking fast.
Games like Mario Kart are awesome multiplayer.
NFS has a lot of variety in the franchise
GT is the best "upgrade my street car" racer. Until one comes out that beats it, I will continue to play it. Maybe this new Xbox game will beat it. We will see. |

I hate to be a negitive nancy, but not only do I like the GT series, but I think Polyphony has got a good thing going on.
I mean, look at it from their standpoint. All of thier production, money, investments, planning, staff, etc etc all go into one franchise, one system. they can specialize in all thier stuff to get it right. And I still see GT as a cut above the normal racing game too. I mean, other games have a lot to offer, dont get me wrong, but when I can feel the difference in handling when I drop my chassi down 4 inches and tilt the suspension a bit, thats just impressive.
I also think that GT symbolizes where some future games are headed, into the bizarre realm of ultra-realism. One day you wont be moving your gear ratios on a graph, you'll have the damn peice out of your car in your garage working on it. Or you actually have to open up the hood and check the oil with a dipstick, etc.
All in all, I dont care what polyphony does, personally. They have a pretty good thing going on and apparently they are making a lot of money at it, and despite the rest, money is what its really all about. I dont blame them for not sticking their noses into territroy they aren't familiar with and ruining their reputation in realism or gameplay. |

I can agree with you Dai, I'm just saying that although they do have a really solid game, they act like they're Blizzard or Capcom. I mean how great would Miyamoto be if all he ever did was Mario or Yu Suzuki if he only did Virtua Fighter? Ya know what I mean? Rare had their one franchise (Star Fox) that was acclaimed and now they have left that so far behind it's incredible. id had Doom but now they have...well, Doom...ha ha.
PD has a nice thing going ("Spread the propaganda, my minions!") but don't get all "We'll only be releasing one more PS2 game" when you've only made three games in your whole lifetime.
And Excel, thanks for the vote. I have never been known for shyness or subtlety. And in that regard I can hit another "gaming god". Check out Bungie's website http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=3Dscreenshot&p=107003
(story on Halo2 but...) at the bottom they have a link to their games. There's Halo2, Halo PC, and Halo Xbox. Wow, what a trifecta of diversity! |

Heh, ok, I can see where your coming from now. Evolution of the company. Maybe the developers at Polyphony shoudl think outside the b0x0rz a little bit, its not like they dont have money to spend (filthy pigs...), and I would like to see thier very impressive vision in some other areas.
What ever happend to Rare, btw? Naughty Dog and that other Naughty Dog spin off (whose name escapes me) have dominated my gameplay with Jak and R&C as far as plaforms go. |

Rare's last game was grabbed by the ghoulies for Xbox, they're currently working on the new Conker game for Xbox. |

ive always liked the GT games, especially GT3 A-Spec, but mainly because of the music in them, nothing beats racing around listening to Just A Day by Feeder!!! but i always prefered Ridge Racer to Gran Turismo, I like the thrill of going round a corner completly side ways |
