While I have to chime in with the old adage "the book is better", the movies are really worth seeing. In my opinion, PoZ was by far the best of the three thus far, but Sorcerer's Stone was really good, while Chamber of Secrets left me a little bored (it could be because I knew everything that was going ot happen, so no suspense).
I suggest seeing the movies then reading the books. You'll still get that movie feel from the movie, and there'll be soooo much more material in the books, you'll be reexperiencing the movie. |

DOOD! Back off man! Just cause me and Seedorf were havin alone time didn't ruin the movie for anyone..How dare ya call us 5 year olds...Oh wait..BEHIND Toolman...N/M.
Yeah myself and Seedorf talked through this whole movie witch was awesome cause the more I like a movie the more I can make fun of it IN the movie. But at least I did it quietly.... Well, Until they went to Hoth..Then it was go time.
Oh and after the Movie when I was all "Snape is awesome." Then I was like, "Iliked his brother in number 3 too..Man I hope they get together." Doot was like, "WTF are you talking about?" And I was like, "Nakitomi Plaza..Federal gold reserve." She then continued to eye me..Then I hadta say "Die Hard" and she hit me...Memories. |

I JUST started reading the Harry Potter books as per my twin's request(well, if you call reading a sentence, stopping and playing Transformers reading...), but I really like the Harry Potter movies; all of them- including this one. HELL, I liked this one MORE than the other two! Why? Because up until the movie was released, I heard nothing of it. NOTHING was spoiled for me, so I had no idea what was going on. No one spouted out their anticipations of the third movie because of their reading the third book two years ago or whatever.
...that said, I would have absolutely LOVED this movie had I not have gone with two "die hard" Harry Potter fans who made it their very mission to sit me between them, and then whisper to each other what-was/should-happen sometime soon. On top of that, I had a crying baby behind me, and three kids in front of me that WOULDN'T SHUT UP((if their names had been Ron, Harry, and Hermione, I wouldn't have been so annoyed)) .
ANYWHO. I liked the movie. The actors get better and better; some of them- mostly the kid who plays Neville -have changed a good bit from "The Sorcerer's Stone". The humor was really well placed; but this movie wasn't as dark as Chamber of Secrets was, in my opinion.
But as much as I loved this movie, I was tired of hearing how disappointed people were by omissions. One should ALWAYS treat a book and a movie based off a book as two ENTIRELY different things and ALWAYS expect that parts WILL be cut out and/or changed for dramatic/time purposes. Unfortunately, no one I went with held that in their mind, and complained almost as if the movie was as dissapointing as the Street Fighter movie(which was very dissapointing, if we all remember- for those that haven't blocked it out their heads >D).
I loved the movie; even if peopel around me were ruining the experience. Next time a Harry Potter movie comes out, though, I will watch it a month after it's out with an aquantence who neither likes nor dislikes HP and hasn't seen the movie. This way, the movie will be more enjoyable(WITHOUT THE BABIES SCREAMING!)
...hahaha! Maybe I shoulda posted this in the Soapbox, LOL >D |

I saw it right after art camp with a friend. Read the book first. >.< Lupin didn't need the cheesy mustache at all. That amd they should've explained the Maurauder's Map a bit more. Besides that, it was really good. (Everyone in the theatre clapped when Hermion punched Draco. Hilarious!) |

the maurader's map was one of the only things that bugged me about the movie. Even then it wasn't that much, though. I thought it was really good. |

The movie was all right. *thinks* Although I can never see it again because Remus' mustache bothered me enough that I was twitching for the rest of the day. |

Additional Comments From Sperrit:
The first thing I can say about the movie was that it was... fast. I'm actually very pleased with that particular choice, because it meant that they really wanted to fit it all in and wanted to keep it as true as possible, which is a must in my opinion. They didn't seem to mess around with the plot that much (though the thing with Harry seeing Peter on the Map was like... Where in the world did they think that up?) and my only character comment would be that I think Sirius was played a bit... over the top with the insanity, something that I never got from his character in the book. Biggest Pet Peeve- They add things in that aren't in the book when you could be putting in necessary plot instead. Biggest 'Why Didn't They...?'- Marauders Map. PAINFULLY underexplained by the Twins and Lupin and Sirius. I mean, come on, Lupin takes the thing from Harry when it's blank and he automatically knows it's a map... but never explains how, nor how Sirius knows about it, us never having seen him with it the whole movie. And Harry never seems to wonder how they do. Sheesh.
Over all- Good Movie. Worth a see. Check it out.

My guess is that they did film Lupin explaining the map to Harry, but was probably left on the editing room floor due to time constraints.
Refresh my memory, how do they find out about Pettigrew again? |
