Yes. It is a very good reason to hate the box. Its not enough that Microsoft has 3/4 of the computer industry under their little finger, but the fact they have to attempt to squander their way into the console market kinda pisses me off. Its not like they dont have a monopoly as it is.
Xbox is flat out a horrible system, I have never played a game on xbox that didn't play just as well on the PS2. Not to mention the fact that Xbox is completely devoid of RPGs. I have always said that the xbox was built for the sports gamer and I hold to that statment. The only game that only xbox had that I wanted to play was Halo and I got over that when I beat the thing solo on Legendary, and saw the secret ending. Yeah it has a great multiplayer, but I would just as soon play goldeneye for its multiplayer. Wait, wait...... there is one other game that I will give Xbox credit for and the is Steel Battalion. I have wanted to play this game for so freaking long it hurts, but I dont want to spend the money on a new xbox and 200 dollars for the game and controller.
Anyways, back on topic, PS2 has a huge selection of games coming out in the coming months. Among this is a vast assortment of Anime titles that you wont see on any other system. For instance Cowboy bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex, Gundam Seed: Battle assault 3, and Inuyasha:The Secret of the Cursed Mask. That covers Action, Fighter, and RPG genres. Three genres that I am very fond of I might add.
Wait a minute...... the topic was PS3. Um.... well about that. I would be pretty happy if they would just put 4 contoller ports on it. |

Okay..... they have Fable.... you got anything else??? Oh yeah..... Morrowind, another PC title that was 10 times better on the PC.
I can get Fable for my PC if I absolutley want to play it and it will have better graphics and probably more content. Not to mention the fact that PS2 has more RPGs in its archive than xbox does games(only counting 1 game for each sport because they are all the f*ckin same). Not to mention the fact that the Xbox was a horribly designed system. I had more problems with my old Xbox than I ever did with my PS2. It took my PS2 3 years for anything to go wrong and even they Sony fixed it for free. My xbox would just decide to destroy itself in the middle of games at random. So yes..... I think I have plenty of reason to hate xbox and Microsoft along with it. |

Well I will say I'm not as much of a hater as Faye. 
Personally, I think the Xbox is the best hardware out there. But they don't have the software. As I said before. I own 4 games for my Xbox and almost 50 for my PS2.
What are those 4 games
Sega GT ( Wow how disappointed with this game I was )
Jet Set Radio Future ( You made the spraying one button now... what fun is that! )
Ninja Gaiden ( Can anyone say crappy camera angles )
SW: KOTOR ( The only game I played and actually enjoyed enough to keep playing on the Xbox )
Sega GT and JSRF came with the system. I played them both once, and that was it. My Xbox collected dust until KOTOR.
But there is one thing that the XBox is good for. You can mod it and flash it with linux and put a bunch of emulators on it and play all the old games on your Xbox.
Oh wait... you can do that on your ps2 now too.
Anyway, Fable interests me. But that seems to be about it.
So if MS releases thier system before Sony, it will probably fail everywhere but the US. |

The only reason I owned an xbox in the first place was because a friend of mine needed some money and I bought it from him, with 2 s-type controllers and 4 games for a hundred bucks. The games were Morrowind, Dead to rights, Hunter The Reckoning, and one other that I never played. I will admit though, KOTOR was fun, but Now I have it for my PC and It is ten times better.. |

Well, what game isn't better on the PC??? That's kind of one of those comments that doesn't need to be said once, but Faye's has said it, what three times aready?? Why compare a console with a PC? The PC will always win 9 times out of 10.
Now as for the PS having more titles then the xbox, of course it does. Sony has been in the business for how long now?? And would anyone expect Xbox to take over the business just that fast? I don't think so, especially going up against a company like Sony. But considering all of that the xbox is doing good, and is getting better. Whether all you xbox haters out there like it or not, Microsoft has wedged itself into this business and it doesn't look like their jumping out of it any time soon. |

This is true. However, me being a console gamer, would rather play a game on a console on my 55" TV while sitting on my couch then sit in my desk chair and play it on a 19" Monitor. I really gotta run my computer to my TV. Perfect example, I bought Need For Speed Underground on PS2, even though it was significantly better on PC. I did not buy it on XBox b/c the PS2 was pretty much the same, the PS2 has a better controller (in my opinion), and the PS2 version had cross platform online support. Good stuff.

Honestly, I think MS did think it would take over that fast. And you say Sony has been around "for how long." It is true that Sony brought their system out first, but that has nothing to do with it really. Dreamcast came out first, and was a good system, but when the PS2 came out, the Dreamcast was dead. And currently, PS2 is still bringing out games at a higher rate than XBox. As for MS not just taking over bacause they "haven't been in the business... Sony only has one generation of game system before the ps2. And when they got into the market, the came up against 2 companies that had owned the marked since the mid 80s. Many people tried to push their way in to the market. Atari did with the Jaguar. NEC did with the Turbo Grafx. 3DO did but failed as soon as the next gen systems came out. Phillips did with the CD-i and failed. And that's just what I can remember off the top of my head. Sony came in against 2 Gaming Giants. And they put out the system with the most quality games on it. On their first shot. And now, they are the leaders.
How long will they be the leaders? Who knows? Every leader in this industry has fallen at one point or another. It is Sony's Destiny to fall at one point or another.
The fact is that you are saying we shouldn't expect MS to do something that Sony already did. And did with authority. Just wanted to point that out.

Well first I would like to say I'm not an "XBox Hater." I'm a Microsoft Hater... which is different. My dislike for Microsoft come stricktly from the fact that they make way to much money on products that SUCK because the have a monopoly on the PC software market. This is their first venture into the gameing world. And it's probably not even really MS that is doing anything with the XBox, it's probably some company that they aquired and sliped thier marketing filth on. I do own an XBox. I couldn't call myself a true gamer if I didn't. I cannot have an initial bias opinion of a system before actuallying trying/owning it. I boast about the games that have come out on the XBox that are good. In my eyes, those being Star Wars KOTOR and Riddick. That's it. For me, that's all they have that interests me. "WHAT ABOUT HALO." To me, Halo is just like any other first person shooter out there. But as I said, I'm interested in Fable. I will probably rent it or something to see if I like it. They have a few titles that are coming out in the future that I'm interested in.
As for the next generation of systems, well we will just have to see what happens. But for right now, you can bet that the big three will all come out swinging. And considering the majority of the market is based on how a system does in Japan, right now, Sony has the edge. |

I am kinda with you on this one Shino. I have always been kind of a Microsoft hater, but the Xbox really pushed me over the edge. I will admit when I first got the system I really enjoyed it, it was when things started going wrong that pissed me off and that is not even the half of it. Let me tell you a little story about me and my Xbox.......
It all started shortly after KOTOR came out. I was one of the many starwars fans anticipating this game for many months. However I knew some people at the local video game exchange store in the mall and had my copy reserved on release date long before it came out. Well when I got home after a long days work, I decided to spend the rest of the night playing it since I had the next day off. Well that was wishful thinking I supose or it could just be my incredible bad luck. I stuck the disc in just like normal, and apparantly microsoft decided not to format this disc to the xbox........ or at least thats what my xbox told me the problem was. Well I spend the next hour trying to figure out what was wrong..... I even resorted to blowing in my xbox, something I haven't dont since my NES days. Finally I thought "Hey" I'll go get one of those lens cleaners and see if that will work. So I did and while I was out I stopped at the store I bought it at to make sure it worked(they have an xbox set up there to test games). Once I get home and use the cleaner It works..... for about five minutes before It decided the disc isnt the right format again...... I go to bed and spend my day off Yelling at the xbox support people because they want to charge me a hundred bucks for them to fix the peice of shit xbox that was barely a year old. So I decide to get sell the xbox and everything and buy more ps2 games.
On a side note: The same thing happend to my PS2 about 3 months later and Sony fixed it for free and had it back to me in a about 6 sweeks. Now that is a company that stands behind its product. A product that I had owned for 4 years.
If you can't tell, I will definately be buying a PS3 and more than likely a PSP as well. I am a big supporter of Sony and as long as they carry Final Fantasy and anime style games, I will remain a strong Sony supporter. Not to mention Xbox will never go anywhere without a strong Japanese following, and at the rate they are going, they will bankrupt long before that happens. |
