Quote: | I suspect that Sqeenix is going to play off of the nostalgia of the older games by one day remaking them on the next or next next gen platforms. All the work is already done as far as balancing, play mechanic, and story, so it woudl be cheaper than making a brand new game, and they would sell like mad in the 18-30 Age bracket, as well as reaching new markets with the younger generation. I forsee this happening with all of the old square classics, Chrono, Secret of Mana, Evermore, FF 1-6, and possibly seven in the distant future. I believe they are waiting for the right time to begin a project like this, as it could really only be done once per franchise. |
Yes, but see... in all honesty, let's say they are planning to re-release Chrono Trigger. And let's say, for example, its on the PS3. Is there honestly any Chrono fan out there who is going to say, "Oh, ya know what, I could buy Square's remake, but why bother since I can d/l this other completely different work?" I mean, if it was me, I'd download the free one -and- buy Square's version. So again, it shouldn't be hurting profits at all. Especially since this remake was geared toward an xbox/gamecube level of hardware. If we assume that the remake would be arriving on PS3, you have even greater incentive due to the additional power that hardware will provide. But then, I majored in CS, not marketing lol. |

Well i think the main reason they got in trouble was because they were making it with pirated Xbox and Gamecube programming software (or something of that nature) |

Bah to the major corporations. There was no harm being done. Heck It coulda been pitched. If a group of 10 people can do this, then it should be a piece of cake. |
