=/ The big quotation from Bush on why we went into Iraq was this, "The enemy attacked us, and we had to defend ourselves." I believe Cheney said the same thing at the Republican Convention. Unfortunately, the enemy we are fighting, is not the same enemy who fought us. What would people have said if FDR had invaded Mexico after Pearl Harbor? o.O I do agree, Kerry does not show as much emotion as Bush. Unfortunately, Bush seemed to avoid a lot of questions, prefering rather, to simply restate Kerry was sending mixed messages. I think the Republican party has a way of using emotion to get votes, while the Democratic party believes there is still a group of people who can be won with Intelligence.

I didn't get a chance to watch the debate, even though I wanted to.

But, to all you people who say neither of them should be in office, which other candidates should? This is the crappy thing about our country. We have like 7 candidates for president and we only ever hear from two of them. The sad truth is that we are locked in the two party system. The closest we ever came to breaking that was when Perot ran for president. How do we get somebody else into the presidential equation? Vote for one of the other parties to give them 10% of the vote. Get them actually considered to be a worthy candidate. People really don't look into all the politics of politics and just vote for their party. That's bullcrap. Make an informed decision.

Not trying to rag on anybody, so sorry if I sturred up anything.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...We went after Saddam for the same reason we're going after Osama even though we caught the mastermind of 9/11.

America PUT those people in power of those countries and we're pissed because they used our generosities against us. I don't care if some African upstart takes control of D-4 or Somalia or whatever..It's because the people are weak and LET that guy take over. In Afganistan America went in and trained them to be geurilla fighters and take down the Russians... In Iraq we took out a previous Dictator and put in another then patted him on the but and levied sanctions. Sanctions don't work as we've learned so it's time to flex some muscle.

If I could go back and do it all again I'd have let the Russians roll over Afghanistan like we rolled over Iraq.

And the Democrats have never used intelligence to get votes..All they do is promise money to the people who vote the most..IE Old people. Then they say they want to reform education..Reform apparently means make schools teach in Spanish and Eubonics so normal American kids fall behind and go unchallenged. And as Reaper said before it's now easier to get into college..Which means kids no longer need to TRY in High School in order to get into a University..They just apply for a Pell grant and get it.

I watched the debate, and i'm not sure why since I hate theh whole political thing, but I did anyways. I'm not really sure who I am going to vote for or who i want to win, but last ngiht it seemed like Bush won the debate. I feel like he was more professional about the whole thing.
The thing I didn't like about the debate is that all they talked about was war!!!! As I recall only once did they move off the subject to talk about homeland security. I think there were bigger issues that could have been discussed, but I guess they'll save that for the next debate.
Those are my thought.

Yes! Thank you, Nogrick! You are completely right in my opinion. We are dangerously stuck in a 'two-party system' and it's tearing up the politics of this country. We never get to see what our other options are and elections have been reduced to a 'We win you lose' game of one-up-man-ship. It's the most ridiculous example of political bickering that I've ever seen. Our country is falling apart because all our leaders can think about is beating the other guy into the ground instead of serving the people that he's supposed to represent.
I agree with Rev. They're both idiots. Let's elect a PO and put THEM in the oval office. I have no doubt they'd do better than either of those fools.

I'm not a very political person, but I Kerry certainly bested Bush in this debate. I'm not going to Bash Bush or Criticize Kerry, but I will say that Bush often called for a thirty second rebuttle(sp?) and hardly used it for constructive purposes; often doing a "um...uh....well...".
Not that I'm questioning Bush's effectiveness as president, but he seemed the most unprepaired of the two, and never really answered questions; and he kinda seemed like a broken record. Kerry was consistant in this debate- yeah, with a few problems, but Bush was just a broken record player and had the most problems trying to stand ground.

Well Underpants I will politely disagree with your feelings on the professionalism of the two candidates. Kerry seemed much more focused, on track, and well kept throughout the debate. Nogrick, you have a very good point. In fact, when America was founded, George Washington put both Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson in his cabinet because he felt with people of opposing views in the same group, it would stop any two major groups from forming. On the fact that you didnt want to hear about foriegn policy and Iraq, why did you tune in? Last nights debate's topic was just that. If you want to hear more about other topics, wait for the next two. GAAZ, the democratic does try to appeal to the brain rather than the heart. While Bush is saying we headed into Iraq to fight Saddam and the terrorists, Kerry asks why we went in when, and where we did. Bush wants people to think he is saving our nation. Kerry wants people to think Bush did good deeds in a horribly wrong manner.

**My APUSH teacher is sooooo liberal.. "Kerry could fall off the podium, roll on the ground, drool on himself, and I STILL would not vote for Bush."

I watched bits and pieces of the debate-- mostly because I had to study for my Lab practical today, and get some sleep before it, otherwise I would have watched the whole thing just to prove my theory about the idiocy of the political candidates.

The fact is, Kerry trounced Bush as far as the actual -debate- went. I'm not talking about which stance is better, I'm talking about the fact that Bush was really obvious about trying to remember exactly what he was told to say about any given issue, and not thinking for himself. He gave off the impression of having no clue what was going on, and that alone is enough to give credence to at least half of my theory.

The part that gives credence to the other half is that even Kerry didn't talk about ANYTHING. They repeated themselves constantly, and discussed nothing anyone really cares about, instead going on about how "My theory's better than yours" "Not uh" "Uh-huh" and the rest of us listened and were all "WTF? Who cares, you're both idiots!"

*coughs* wow, that turned into a rant. At any rate, I agree that we should all just find someone else to vote for. Who knows, we could even make somewhat of a difference in doing so!

...though I'm not going to say who my personal choice would be. I'd get boo'd out of PO. XD.
