If you really have a problem with the way the do things...

Only buy their games used.

when it's used... no money goes to them. Smile

That's what I do with Xbox b/c I refuse to give M$ any of my money.

I have KOTOR 1 and 2. Both were purchased used. Smile

Yes I know it's kinda stupid, but that's what I"m doing. Wiggle

If it was me, I'd rather work a few more hours of regular time, in order to AVOID crunch time like that. Imagine a game that takes, say, 2 years to develop. Add one hour per day. 1 hour per day = 730 hours less you do in crunch and 730 more that you instead worn on during a relatively normal day, with less pressure. This way, when crunch comes in, it either lasts less per day, or it's just done on fewer days.

My manager puts it a good way...

If you give someone 1 week to do a task, it will take 1 week or more. If you give them a month, it will take a month.

Of course this isn't always true, and it really depends on the person, but in the case of working one extra hour a day, it wouldn't really avoid crunch time.

Not in the programming business.

If it were that simple it would be wonderful, but unfortunately, its not Sad hard to fully explain it not being in it myself, but just seeing and hearing what very little I do from my bf, well, its just not that simple. If it were, it would be done, cause it would save the company money Wink

And Shino does have a point, buy things preowned...especially if its my store because then it too keeps me in the job Mr. Green

You know, I still disagree, especially if the hourly employees are making more than the salary employees, and they are working the same amount of hours. Unless he is fairly compensated with a "comp item" that would have a real world value of the overtime that the hourly workers receive. For example, if they give extra vacation time, I dont think that really should count, because he will receive that money whether he is there or not. But if they were to say, greatly lower his health care coverage cost, or if they had different lvls of plans that he could opt into via a certain set of Crunch Time hours worked, that would have a real world effect on the actual amount of cash value his job/position is worth. But extra time off just doesn't cut it in my book. Especially if they push their employees so hard that they realistically NEED a vacation. Ppl shouldn't have to go on vacation because they NEED it. They should go on vacation to enrich their lives, and the lives of their family.

Money is great, but if the two of you were to have kids someday, I would be willing to bet that you would rather have more time with them than $$$ in your bank. And if you dont, (and this isn't to anyone in particular, but in general) then you shouldn't have kids.

Maybe I misspoke when I said DOWN WITH EA, I think that perhaps I should have said "DOWN WITH EA's BUSINESS PRACTICES"
