That's what I'm thinking. All of this "strange bedfellows" stuff is probably going to push out more and more arcade style sports games. I am not a fan of them but that's where I can see it going. The Mutant League series (which I'm guessing EA still owns but wouldn't it be cool if Sega went to whoever does own the rights and bought them away?) will more than likely never see the light of day now since EA owns the real life alternative in Football. This is ironic because everything going on pretty much sceams for the return of the series.
It'll all be ground zero when they start fighting over NASCAR rights.
Let's hope Shino and Doot don't sign over the PO rights to EA next  |

Well if it does come down to it I'd be pretty happy. To be honest im not much of a realistic sports game fan but I love fun arcadeish sports games like Soccer Slam, NBA Street, etc. |

Simply put...it is.
I liked what Sega/Visual Concepts/Take-Two did for sports game (the little amount I played them), but in the long run, two wrongs don't make a right.
But I can understand the point. |

lol they weren't forced into anything. EA won the NFL exclusitivity because they could pay the most, 'nuff said. If Sega had more money then EA(HAHAHA never gonna happen), they would of gotten the deal.
And ESPN is looking out for themselves, they didn't have to sign a deal with EA, but they know its better because EA ownz Visual Concepts. |

I don't see it so much as a fight. I see it more like dominos. EA and the NFL started the chain reaction. I have a feeling said chain reaction will come back and bite them in the ass.
Companies like SEGA don't HAVE to use licenses. They've made non official sports games before like Soccer Slam. EA on the otherhand does need licenses. EA isn't really known for it's original games and characters. All their best stuff is based on pre-existing characters. |

Sports games blow about as much as a fan set on low. Honestly if there's a limit to the companies, then they'll find a way to bipass it. At least nintendo can make a fun sports game now and then. |
