Those of us old enough to remember the first Bush administration and were of the proper age to be watching cartoons might remember an anti-drug Saturday morning special. I forget the name, but it had cartoon characters promoting the anti-drug agenda.

It was laughably ridiculous. Even if this one is for a better message, like tolerance, the kids are probably not going to associate the right things out of it. So Dobson doesn't have to worry that it will be promoting a "gay agenda" - I doubt the kids will care enough about it to ask.

It only proves that for lack of a real target, people like Dobson have to invent one.

You know, I'm already bi, and I never once thought of Spongebob as anything other than a harmless cartoon. Besides, if they look closely and got their heads out of their butts, they would see that Spongebob very, very likely has a crush on Sandy.

the great thing about kids is that they're born completely free of hate and prejudice. too bad their asshole parents feel the need to make them hate others who are different than they are. as we all know, ignorance, fear, and hatred all lead to the dark side.

Poor example that Sponge Bob is to other gay Americans. If he is gay, he's obviously hidding it. Thats no message to send to gay America. Come out gays! There is no reason to hide any longer. Forget Sponge Bob-still-in-the-closet.

In all fairness, though, this isn't about SpongeBob on the show, it's about that video of "We Are Family" being sent out, which I haven't seen, but find it easy to believe that in a video made to promote tolerance, SpongeBob could easily be used as a gay representitive.

And to quote SNL's Weekend Update:

"Recently, Focus on the Family's Dobson accused SpongeBob SquarePants of being gay. And yet he lets that carpet muncher Dora [the Explorer] take a free ticket. A bookbag? Come on, a bookbag? She's a lesbian."

By the way, to whoever said that he likes Sandy: Nope. She likes him. I've seen more full contact scenes with he and Patrick/Squidwert than any contact other than him hitting Sandy. Now, that's not what the public needs. Squirrel abuse? This show is sick!
