Neon's have Mitsu engines now? I didn't know that.

I would be willing to bet though that the SR-4 is NOT a Mitsu engine. Wink

But yes. I like the newer Neons a lot.

Dooters has a Neon. It's held up pretty well through all the hell she has put it through. Wink

Yeah. I'm not sure about the older models, but I know the newer ones have them. Probably since around 2000 or something.

As far as the SRT-4 is concerned, I'm not sure. If it had anything, it would probably be something similar to what the Evo has. The only problem with that is that it begins to cannibalize Evo sales...especially since the SRT-4 is significantly cheaper.

Well they are not really even in the same car class.

As a matter of fact, the only cars in that class are the Evo and the STi

Pricewise and performance wise, the SRT-4 is more in the same class as the Honda Civic Si (Shitty incarnation) and the Lancer Rallyart edition.

Powerwise it kills everything it's up against. Not sure about handling performance. From what I understand, the Ralliart Lancer has a lot of the Evo's handling parts.

But yeah... the Neon SRT-4 is one bad ass machine!

SRT-4s are a Dodge engine, but they are every bit as beefy as anything Mitsus every put out. I have a friend daily drives one that lays down 400 ponies on pump and over 500 on race gas, also he's selling it for $25,000 becuase he over spent, the shop that was sponsoring him closed and cant afford the car when he moves out. But damn would I be on the car like white on rice if I had the cash.

And actually, the SRT-4 isnt really in a class with any other car, I'd say its main competion is the EVO and WRX though, just becuase the SRT-4 is what most people who want an EVO or STI settle with.

well 400/500 after some major mods.

I can believe that.

I can see your point with the class of the car too.

But pushing 230HP, although good, not close to the 276 and 300 the others push. And with the handling on them being close to 1G each stock... Well... as you said... at the price point the SRT4 is at, very good chance people wanting the evo or sti would go with it.

Yeah, it has to have some mods to hit 400-500hp. I remember looking them up when they first came out and they had something in the 200s stock. The most recent ones are 230hp. Also, both the Evo and the STi have AWD, explaining the better handling. They're also both designed to function as rally cars as well as street cars, explaining the AWD.

I think people end up settling on the SRT-4 because, as I said, it's much cheaper than the others. When you really stop to think about it, you can't beat the value you get with an SRT-4. It's got a lot of power, and costs you at least $8,000-$10,000 less.

And just for Excel...speaking of Dodge...how's this for American?

That's the new Dodge Charger. Talk about power...it has an available 6.1 liter V8 Hemi...boasting 425hp STOCK. It's a beast...kinda pretty too...

Before he did any engine work to where its at now he was doing around 460 on race gas with just fuel system, a 60 trim turbo and huge fmic and exhuast. But since then he's had the engine fully built and headwork and a few other things done to get it to where its at now.

But Also DSMs are American with the Exception of the power train, the interior/exteriod design of Eclipse/Talon/Laser all done by Chrysler Corp, same thing with the 3000GT/Stealth.
