but lucky for us... Robb DID hear of PO!
And so did the rest of the Boxhumpers.
We have had nothing but good relations with those who came here from PSOtakus and Boxhumper.
And Terin... Yes I do have those videos somewhere still. I have to dig them up!

I have a video somewheres featuring some humping from the PSOtakus crew. I believe a park bench was involved, it wasn't just limited to boxes. I'd post it if I had a host for a larger file..
And yes, Boxhumper.com died because we weren't getting any new posts. We had a great start after closing Area51, but it just petered off after awhile. Many felt that between not having a core game to "define" us, and a lot of our longterm members fading away, the end was pretty much spelled out for awhile.
I love it here, and have become close to quite a few PO people. That being said, PSOtakus was still my "home", and I miss it quite often. Could we have done things a little differently? Sometimes I wish we had, but it's all in the past now.
HOWEVER. Una and I have been talking about bringing back PSOtakus for probably well over a year now. He has a host and a preliminary design going. We should be going live sometime in the near future, I just have to pay for my half of the hosting fees. PSU will be our "core" game, but we will be open to WoW, Guild Wars, and anything else anyone is playing.
I can only hope Asian Prince manages to find us in our new digs.
So yeah, PSOtakus really is returning, I just hope we can earn a community that is half as good as our old home.. |

We will definitely need some help, and I will keep you posted. I just don't have the time that I did previously to do certain things, and I know Una is busy, so we will be welcoming assistance with the new digs. The hardest part will be contacting all the old members as some of them have just disappeared. I've also been online less and less over the last couple of years so I've lost touch with a lot of the oldies I used to chat with.
This is why recruiting new members will be so important. And much like before, when we recruited in-game with PSO, the new PSOtakus will be recruiting in-game with PSU. Think about it, we'll have regular weekly or semi-weekly in-game meetings again where a small mob of PSOtakus hams it up in a prearranged lobby. Remember the soccer games?
So yeah, it's something to look forward to. |

Maybe you guys should call it PSUtakus!
I'm pretty sure 75+% of the gamers on this site will be playing PSU... so yeah. We'll probably be around too
In the mean time... I'm glad you guys are hanging out with us. |

We've considered that.
And let me restate that, just like in the past, PSOtakus and PO will be sibling communities with intermingled members. I love PO, and I'm glad there was a place for a lot of us PSOtakus misfits to go after BH finally kicked the bucket. I'll be active in both communities, and I'm sure many of our other members will as well.
Kittyloaf demands it! |

PO and PSO (or PSU) will DEFINATLY be sibling communities in my eyes!
I also consider Gamepulse (Riva's Gaming site) a sibling community. He's used several ideas from PO as a model and the place looks great.. just need to get more word out. |

"Lied" is such a strong word... I prefer to think of it as... "omitting certain truths" We went underground and closed off open membership only to later reform as boxhumper. That, also, shut down due to lack of interest and free time.
We've all been waiting less than patiently for PSU to hit and it has always been our hope to try and reform again. As GD mentioned, we've been talking about it back and forth for a good long while now.

"Omitting certain truths" is a good description. We took some flak for our decision to go underground, and I can understand that. I tried desperately to make sure we invited all the positive, productive members to come along, but I know I forgot a few, and that was definitely a downer.
We never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings, but it just became so much work to maintain PSOtakus as an admin that it didn't feel fun anymore. I spent more time breaking up petty arguments and enforcing forum rules that it just became old hat. On top of that, some of our mods went MIA...
I don't know why, but PSOtakus seemed to attract some "colorful" members later in its life. When I say "colorful", I mean "idiotic". I don't know how you guys do it here at PO, but I never see anyone like that here. Dealing with those types just gets old after awhile.
With the new forums, I'm pretty sure Una, myself and a couple of others will be able to handle the duties as long as they stay small. If they become as successful as PSOtakus was, we'll just need to recruit some more mods to help us out.
PSU is out in Japan next month, I hope we get our port soon! I can't wait to get this party started yo. |
