Congrats! You're lucky, my first day of work was Green Friday (Thats what we called the day after Thanksgiving) in a toy store. If I had the time, I would so get another job in retail. I loved it! Hope all goes well. |

Don't get me wrong. There are times when I actually like my job. But then there are other times when it is absolutely terrible o__________O and it usually has to do with things that I have to deal with involving customers. Come to think of it, customers are probably the worst part of retail. If all of them were nice people, then I would like my job. But they aren't. So I don't. =P
(my opinion is really slanted right now; the last two days, I have had to deal with the Customers From Hell >.<; )

We've always called it Black Friday, everywhere that I've worked. But eeeeeegads, I can't imagine starting your first day on BF O_________O and at a toy store, no less. |

I would have to say that retail is a little easier than my current weekend job where people threaten to kick my a$$. But I get to make little kids cry go I guess it's not all bad.  |

In most of the retail jobs I've had, that was a problem as well. Luckily, at my current job I AM the management. Part of the management team, anyway. And the managers above me are really cool, as are most of my associates. So I got lucky !

What the hell do you do on the weekend?? o_____O
People don't threaten me, but it is still--shall we say, "less than fun" when customers are yelling at you about some policy that you have no control over, or people are getting upset because a sign says "up to 40% off" and the item they want is only 20%, so they yell at you for having "misleading signs". Or when people are constantly trying to steal crap, and you're held responsible for it because it's you're job to stop them, even though the rules are so tight that you can't actually stop anybody from taking anything, you can just follow them around the store and hope that you scare them off >.> |

I lack the verbiage to enunciate the malignity I feel towards you.
But alas I work at Jillians(now owned by Dave and Busters) wearing a shirt that makes me want to kick my own ass.
I have similar duties you do. Since techs are one of the few employees that are always on the floor we have to look out for people doing well.. anything. Including steeling or people copulating on a game. Bar + bowling + dark + friends and chicks = people breaking stuff = Andy yelling = big guy trying to show off by threatening me. |
