no, you are absolutly right... you don't have to swing it that hard.

but people either get to into it or just don't realize that they don't have to.

A flick of the wrist is really all it takes.

I haven't played all of the games on Wii Sports yet but from what I have played most (Tennis and Baseball), you just have to flick it. Hell, you don't even have to swing it like they say! In the baseball and tennis, just flicking it downward (from head to toe) swings the bat or racket. You don't even have to swing at the TV or do an actual swinging motion. I'll admit, I did try swinging harder/faster to achieve those results but I found that by swinging while holding the A button got me power swings in baseball and pressing the D-Pad in a direction got me throwing fastballs (A and B are for Scrwewballs and curves).
I'm sure some games (Warioware looks like one of them) that will take into account how fast and hard you move but for now, these people are just idiots...um, I mean, "really into it!"
