YAAAY! i just read thought the whole thread.. i'm so sorry to hear your mothers illness.. but aweful glad its not as bad as it could be ^-^+5

hmm.. as far as her going stir crazy just sitting at home.. what bout learning a hobby .. and no not exotic dancing ;p... something easy like painting or sewing? .. or since all your family is over anyway .. staring a scrap book.. or a write a book of funny stories from everyone that's happened in the past ? it'll keep her in a good mood and be a fun hand-me-down later on

Update:

Its shrinking!!! Wooterz. It had shrunk after the first treatment, and is continuing to do so and other than a rash, some cramping, and a little weakness, the chemo has left her relativly uneffected. Mom's only down about 2 and a half days out of the week, but its is well worth it. We've had a few set backs with MD anderson because of a clerical error. Sufice it to say I likely got a woman fired in the financial department for giving me atitude when she was the one that fucked up. We havent gotten another appointment set up yet, but it is in the works.

Oh and yesterday I did something that never even crossed my mind let alone had to do myself, I shaved my mother's head.... It's going to take some getting used too, but my mom has never been much for outward appearances anyways. Besides she's got enough hats in the past 2 weeks where she can wear a different one every day of the month.

Again I appreciate everyones kind words and support.

Its been a little over a year and a half since my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. It has been a long hard road for her. She has had her gallbladder and appendix removed, 2 colon surgeries one in which she had a foot of it removed, a hysterectomy, a double mastectomy, and 13 lymph nodes removed. On top of that she had 18 chemo treatments, and 30 radiation treatments. The Chemo has taken a huge toll on her, obviously, and up until day before yesterday we were under the assumption that she would have to endure 6 more months of it at least. However, after being completely retested her results couldnt have been better. My mother is completely cancer free. To quote her oncologist "You have the test results of a 53 year old woman that has never had cancer". She will have to take hormone blockers for 5 years, but that is as easy as taking a pill everyday. Thank you all for your support.

Wow! That is a -tough- time indeed. I'm glad your mom is Cancer-free now, though. I'm currently doing my internship at ACS with Rollergirl, and I can tell you, seeing all the lists of patients and survivors can really depress me.

Still, though, it's good to see people going on and fighting the good fight and winning. Give her the best from all of us!

Tell your mother that I said that she's a trooper and congrats.
