LOL nicely done Ming. There area few mods for the Mav to make it shoot farther but, BUT - the coolest mod is just a quick filing of a peg on the swing arms for the barrel. It lets you slide it out all the way like a revolver. Very fun if you wanna pull some Dirty Harry shyte.
Yeah i don't like the gimmicky 2nd gun of the longshot but I may just fuse it to the front with some bondo or something to keep it very sniperish or just extend the barrel with PVC and add a silencer for looks. I've seen some people turn both guns into a pump action shottie that looks fairly sweet, but i like the sniper feel.
Can't wait to rip it apart and paint it. Figured I'd start with this one since it only costs 7 bucks before i start ripping into the LS. |

I've been looking up mods for the Longshot and the Maverick, and several times I've come across someone saying that the Longshot actually shoots better and further WITHOUT the second gun attached. Tobs and I were testing out the theory last night, but unfortunately we didn't get home until late so we were just shooting it inside the house. We couldn't come to a definitive conclusion, but I could have sworn the dart looks like it moves faster without the second gun attached. We'll have to test it out further, but I would suggest testing that out before you fuse anything to anything. |

I just like the way it looks all put together, damn thing is a monster. and very rifle-ish. You take that away and you have a blot action shotgun - which is good for run and gun stuff, but i wanna hide in an old abandoned building and shoot unsuspecting passer-bys...just have to collect my darts later after they leave. |

I've also been reading that a lot of hardcore Nerf enthusiasts actually make their own darts. They're apparently cheaper, and perform better than the store bought ones. I haven't really been able to find a really good tutorial yet, but if you're interested, you want to look up "Stefan Darts". They are named after the guy who invented them.
Also, the darts that come with the Longshot are pretty good. I was tempted to buy a package of them for my Maverick, but noticed that the package said that they're only for the Longshot. When Tobs got his Longshot, however, I loaded up the Longshot darts into my Maverick, and they work just fine. Actually, I found that they were working better than the regular darts.
Just an FYI... |

An interesting little factoid.
Classics Megatron's gun mode is based on the Maverick.

Unlike an actual sniper rifle, the Longshot doesn't have any rifling, probably due to the darts gettting caught up in it. So the keeping the second gun attached will bring down your fps/accuracy. Shorter the barrel, better the shot, in NERF terms any way.
And somebody was talking about the Big Bad Bow, I think Target has them, although I'm not sure if it's an exclusive or not. I know TRU used to have exclusive on the N-Strike Bazozoka thing, but now I've seen it at Target too. |

I'm getting pretty accurate with Tob's Longshot. I can get headshots on him all night while he's not paying attention. And yeah, it does actually fire harder and further when you don't attach the second gun. And the scope is pretty useless also. Aiming down the sight rail is probably the best aiming method for it.
And I know this is probably blasphemous, but I think I like my Maverick better than the Longshot. I think it's more accurate, and shoots just about as far. We had a shootout the other night and I nailed him right between the eyes. Then said, "HEADSHOT!". |
