The problem is DLOE is that we do not know if Global Warming will do that. The problem is climate prediction formulas are about as malleable as the Drake Formula. It is basically just educated guessing. The biggest problems with the environment is overuse of natural resources, and poor disposal of industrial by-product (particually in 3rd stage countries).
If you look at fossil fuels, we are unearthing hydrocarbons and burning them because we currently do not have a good alternative. If we can get Nuclear Fusion working so that we get a net energy gain. Then we can basically fix our energy issues for the next 100,000 years. |

Climate changes with or without us. Species go extinct with or without us. The dynamic system of life on Earth is what guarantees that life continually gets better at what it does.
Humans can effect these changes slightly, but so can a butterfly in South America. People stress about climate change because they're looking for something big to panic about. And people stress about the people stressing about climate change for the exact same reason.
We all just need to sit back and enjoy the sunshine... Well, this morning it's tornadoes but hey, those are pretty cool too. |

I don't know whether anthropogenic climate change is the root cause behind the worsening of weather, but even if it is fearmongering about how the planet will change, it seems to be doing a little bit, at least, to make people a bit more conscious of their impacts on the environment - whether they then try to be more green or deliberately move themselves even more into being bad for their environment is their choice. I'd like for it to turn out that we are having an effect on the planet, for no other reason than to leverage that information for every country to think about, and for those than can to do something about removing their influences. But I don't know. While most scientists would say the evidence points toward anthropogenic climate change, I'd just like the weather to play normal. |

And btw, global warming is a theory and not a fact, as is climate change. And it isn't nessarily a bad thing. However the media just uses it as another way to scare the populous intospending money to fix "the problem" when it may not be "the problem" at all! | my view from watching all this is that the climate change/global warming movements are primarily political movements that have become nice hiding places for socialists and communists who took over the cause from those that really do care about the planet. the aim in that is to have a major argument that is irrefutable by logic as it is emotional ie "don't you love your planet?" or "what do you have against nature?"
gunslinger, i was just citing that global warming could be good based on history. who knows what will happen in the future other than in 7.8 billion years the sun will scorch away the majority of the planet and its surfaces leading to us falling into it.
now as one last question there is this quandary: how come most experts on global warming do not acknowledge that right now is a period of higher solar activity and its value in increasing temperature? |

Global Warming and Cooling happens in cycles. It gets really hot around the world then cools back down to an ice age every so many thousands of years. Hell in the 60s the big thing was "global cooling." So I personally thing we should be working on other problems like GunSlinger said. |

If you want to get right down to it, the problem is not eating cows, or more cars, more industry, fossil fuels, or global warming.
It's population control and over use of minimal land. Clearing land to grow food means less trees. Less trees equals less cleaning of air. Breaking this down Military style it goes...
More people=more cleared land for food and shelter=less trees=warming trend.
When you get right down to it, the problem is breeding. And 3rd world countries do it at an alarming rate. And as such, clear land to attempt to modernize.
It's sad, but what we need is a large scale catastrophe to push us back about a billion people or so. But mother nature will take care of that.
We don't own the planet, we just rent here.

Because while living crisis to crisis works for Hari Seldon, it's not a very good way to run a planet. I do agree, though, that the world should be fed enough before we start converting food to fuels. Once we have healthy surpluses, then we can experiment. |
