Cause vets aren't productive members of the military anymore. That's the practical version. Technically, I can't really say. I'll look into it and see if I can't get you an answer soon. |

Thanks, I'm a bit of a stickler of taking care of veterans because both of my grandfathers and one grandmother were. And now later in life I'm seeing them need more help to cover medical costs and it's not really coming so much anymore |

K, got a little info. Congress passed a bill in 2003 to give Vets their full retirement. It was a law that's a little over 100 years old that stipends vet retirement. As far as their benefits, they still have full military duty benefits so all their purchases on base, doctors, all that stuff is still available, their just not drawing as much money as they were while in the military. Also remember that a vets retirement is based on what rank they had before retiring, Officers always get payed better then enlisted, no matter how many years, unless it's 6 years apart. Plus I dont think vet pay changes with the times as much as it should. Meaning all those vets that retired at 40 something in the the 70 don't get pay increases as they should as inflation increases. So Over the next ten years, if Kerry leaves it alone and he should, or if Bush leaves it alone, and he should the Vets will get their pay increase. Hope that helps. |
