Yeah, I have a love/hate relationship with the phone...
Anyway, update. He called earlier. He also apologized for not calling back. It's kinda hard to hear the phone ring when you've left it in the car. We made plans to meet tomorrow. Hopefully this will come through -- we agreed that we definitely need to talk. |

Exactly. Well, we had our meeting and got everything out in the open. And you know what? It still turned out well.  Sure, we are just friends -- and that's fine, it really is. Once everything was discussed, he and I ate dinner, cracked up over things, and talked a lot. It was fun -- and it was a relief that this issue was finally resolved. |

I am coming in pretty late on this, but long-distance relationships can work. I used to think they could not, but if I had not stuck it through, Excel and I would not be happily married now. I lived in California, he lived in Illinois. However, we were (and are) in love, so we stuck it out. At first I thought it would not work, too. There was one night that he had not talked to me in a while, and I thought he did not love me anymore. Funny thing was, he was thinking the same thing. Then we finally got to talk on the phone again, and we got things straightened out. THEN we got married, and I had to go BACK to Cali for 3 months right after we got married! Some honeymoon, huh? But here we are, married 2 years and very happy with each other. |

*hug* I'm sorry. I wish you didn't have to go through that. At the same time, there are things to be learned from this. I will warn you, though, that the lesson(s) here aren't necessarily what you think they are right now. Be careful what you take to heart from this, because the real lessons might not become clear until far down the road, when you can look back without feeling quite as much pain and sadness as you may feel right now. Again, you have my sympathies. I hope you feel better soon. |

It is a shame that things appear to have fallen out between you and this person. I know from personal experience that long-distance relationships are EXTREMELY hard to work out. If you can be civil to each other, though, I wouldn't consider it too great a loss. Sometimes some things just aren't meant to be. I hope that you're okay. I know I don't really know you that well, but if you ever want to chat or something, feel free to get a hold of me.
