I don't know what anybody else has said on the matter, or if this deserves it's own thread, but the thing I wish more consoles would have is backwards/reverse capability like the PS2. It would keep game libraries huge. I hate how they just ditch the old stuff when they come out with something.

5 years is the normal lifespan for a console, not including the Playstation, which went over the 100 million units only a couple of months before its 10th birthday.

I mean I havent got loads of money, for christs sakes me, my partner and my daughter are currently living off benefits, but if we're buying a game, we tend to have a genuine reason (other than it being the current favourite game in magazines etc) to want to purchase it, or we get it second hand.

over christmas alone we got our hands on:

Animal Crossing GC
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life GC
Viewtiful Joe GC
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 PC
Phantasy Star Online Episode III GC
Black and White PC
and Tekken 3 PSOne

only the 1st two of those titles was brand new and not in at January sales price.

Christmas and the summer are the best times to buy games,

Christmas (well 2 days before christmas day and during January sales) because all the big anmes release their killer ap's so the best games from a couple of months ago are reduced to sale prices and summer time because all the big titles from christmas are starting to make their way into second hand stores

While everyone keeps mentioning the price on buying ALL of the systems to keep in style, having all three of the current generation systems only cost me a bit more than I just spent on my computer to be abe to play WoW .
