That's... broken. I see decks being built left and right around this guy. And with Jester's Sceptor out there... I mean you play a spell and remove 10 cards from the game that you can use to counter other spells. This will render some decks useless!
Now, you have to play the artifact right. Playing 1 won't get you the other 3 in your deck right. Putting a card into play is not the same as playing a card right? |

Correct. You actually have to PLAY the artifact from your hand, in the normal fashion, if you want Mishra to trigger. Plus, with the way he's worded by saying "artifact spell" you can't play artifact lands to get artifact lands, which is probably a good thing, because he'd just ramp your mana up like no other.
While his ability is just REALLY cool, I think what really pushes him over the top is the fact that he's a 4/4 for 4. Essentially, the fact that it ended up being a 4/4 for 4 is what made the Ghost Council of Orzhova the best legend from Rav block. Until his power/toughness was revealed, he was looked at as being kinda mediocre.
The only thing that I'm not entirely sold on about Mishra is the artwork. I mean, it's ok I guess...just that I would have expected something much more grandiose and sinister for one of the most powerful Planeswalkers in existence. |
