For those who are on Traineo, I'm starting a daily list of what I eat each day. ^_^ Just in case you're wondering what my diet consists of.

[quote="Akanari"]I was never a huge fan of smoothies (nothing against you, smoothie-maker-dear). I much prefer eating my food and drinking my water seperately. It would be interesting to know what sort of ingredients you were putting in those, as I could probably use them in cooking. I call upon your unfathomable knowledge. ^^
There is no such thing as spot-reducing [quote]

First of all, it's all good. You don't have to be big into smoothies to be healthy. Far from it. Smoothies can sometimes be an evil temptation to eat things that are not QUITE so good for you by combining them with things that are pretty good for you.
Second, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! You can't spot reduce. Do sit-ups till the cows come home, you won't get rid of that gut before you get right of the flab under your chin. You're also right about the exercise, though. Weight-lifting/resistance training is excelent for you in many ways, including lean muscle mass, and in strengthening your bones, so long as you aren't doing something to hurt your joints (the ones that move, not the ones you smoke).

I think maybe I'll take my expertise to a new arena, being that I don't want to override the topic here. I will field all questions right Here!

I figured this was the place to post this...

I found a new, super easy, recipe that you guys might want to try. It's for gazpacho, which is a Spanish style tomato/vegetable soup that's served cold. It's very nice during the summer, and it seems to me to be very healthy. I modded it a little to add a bit of my own flair to it, so here it is...

3 large tomatoes, seeded and chopped
3 medium cucumbers, peeled, seeded, and chopped
1 large red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 large red onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
1 japaleno pepper, seeded and chopped
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil
3/4 cup vegetable broth
salt to taste

All you need to do is puree all the ingredients together, except for the olive oil. Once everything is pureed, stir or whisk in the olive oil. Cover it and put it in the refriderator until it's fully chilled (probably a couple of hours) before serving.

If you feel so inclined, you can serve it with a spoonful of sour cream in the middle, which should help cut some of the heat from the onion, garlic, and jalapeno and also add a bit more complexity to the flavor. You could also try thowing in a bit of cilantro into the puree. I didn't because the recipe didn't call for it and because I'm not fan of it, but it IS a complimentary flavor to everything else in there.

It tastes pretty darn good. I don't know how I feel about the texture...it's a bit "pulpy", but I think you can probably strain it if it bothers you too much.

The recipe should make enough to serve about 6 people.
