I believe the scientific term for that particular type of substance is a "suspension". It's when tiny bits of a solid are floating around in a liquid.
Also, apple sauce and apple juice and apple cider are not the same thing really. As far as Terin's experiment goes...I would stay away from it if I were you. There's a reason why only orange juice can get away with a pulp variety. Can you imagine other juices with pulp in them? Cranberry comes to mind. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my cranberry juice, but have you ever had a raw cranberry? It's like the most bitter thing in the entire world. I don't think that that would fly too well. Or how about tomato or carrot juice with the pulp floating around in it? Ewww....
As an aside....you guys should try orange juice + carrot juice. OMG is it good! |

Actually, I never learned that in chemistry. That was a flashback from my EMT training days. EMTs use this stuff called Activated Charcoal for anyone that has swallowed any poisons. It's this thick, nasty, jet black liquid that is techincally a suspension of charcoal floating around in some sorta liquid. The chemicals bind to the charcoal so that your body doesn't absorb them. But essentially, the stuff is so disgusting that it often just makes the victi...er...patient throw up.

You should try it with fresh ingredients if you get the chance. I have a juicer at home and the other day I made my own with fresh carrots and oranges and it was super amazing! |

Haha. I have my little manual juicer that I use whenever I need juice out of some fruit.
Speaking of orange/carrot, Odwalla Mo'Beta (orange/carrot blend) is really yummy! Most of their juices are very good--I love them. Except I just can't bring myself to drink the green Superfood. It's GREEN. REALLY green. Juice+green=does not compute. |

You don't like Superfood?!
Pity.
Heh, people have gagged watching me drink it, it's very amusing. But it's just so -energizing-, I love it.
However, with regards to the actual topic, I cannot stand my orange juice with pulp. I feel it might have something to do with gag reflex. I have a very strong gag reflex...to the point where it takes a helluva lot of willpower just to swallow a tiny pill. Just, the feeling of pulp going down my throat...it makes me shudder, make a funny face, and maybe want to throw up. However, I like milkshakes. Just thing is...orange juice (with pulp) is regular liquidy juice with large, slimy, kinda chewy floaty things in it. It's not thick (like a milkshake), because of the fact that's its solid in a liquid instead of just a cross between a solid and a liquid. Maybe because it's very acidic too...but yeah.
Infact, I water down most of my juices...one, to make them last longer, and two, just so they're not quite as strong. |

Also I think Pulpy orange juices not only contain the Vitamin c of normal OJ but because of the pulp it contains FIBER...Which 9 out of 10 humans don't get enough of in their diets already.
