Like i said before, im a Nightmare fan. I like Big swords( Note bit sword on Tobias' back) and i like stringing all of his moves together into a cascade of utter annihalation
Oh, and i believe the english translation of Cervantes would be Alcoholic drink in Spanish

Oh, I'm sure I'd enjoy playing you too... as I'm quite positive that I am the absolute worst fighting game player in the world. Platformers are much more my style. ^-^;; |

I will have to disagree with you on the point of cheapness. I can't speak for Necrid, because I never used him, but Ivy doent have any longer a reach than Kilik or Mina, or even nightmare for that matter. I think the characters are pretty well balanced. As far as the arrow thing goes.... it really doesnt count because it was SO easy to dodge |

I dunno. I've seen Ivy hit people from all the way across the screen... as in, at maximum distance away from each other. Maybe it's different on the PS2 version. *shrug* |

Either way, collecting all the individual weapons is fun... but if I catch anyone using Ivy or Necrid they will be seriously looked down upon. Cheap-ass whip-sword... it's a game with NO projectile attacks, and Ivy has the only attack that can hit you from across the screen. Cheap! And Necrid is overpowered, plus he looks dumb. |
I don't know why I'm replying to this because Soul Calibur 2 is a shitty ass excuse for a sequel, but Ivy is not cheap. Players tend to cry "cheap" because they don't know how to handle an attack(s), but if you take some time to analyze an opponent you'll realize they all have strengths and weaknesses. Ivy is great at mid to long range (her longest range attack is just over half screen at max range apart) but poor in close. It's also important to realize that her attacks, at long range, are all linear, so sidestepping is VERY important when fighting her. If you can sidestep and close the distance, most Ivy players will tend to go defensive and that's where you can take advantage. If there is one opponent I fear, it's Mitsurugi. His in close game is lightyears better than Ivy's, so I try my best to keep him at mid range.
So yeah ...

Mitsurugi is actually better at mid range than at close range, according to Mitsurugi enthusiasts. But me, I aggro with the Damascus Sword at close range. Nobody can touch you if you keep grounding them and then hopping back and then dodging and attacking again. Plus, he hasn't got many slow attacks. As far as being 'well balanced,' he sucks at long range and his throws aren't that strong, and he has only one good rising attack and few to no combos that strike high and low either at once or in succession. However, his two stances (Relic and Mist) are most useful, Relic for evading and striking at the same time, Mist for the pop up A+B attack that first blocks an incoming high attack and then smacks 'em. Plus, both stances have a sneaky low kick. And Mitsu has one kickass rising attack, the A, A one where he slashes, spins, and hits again. Though it's easy to dodge, it can take you off guard. Furthermore, if you find yourself on the ground, kiss your ass goodbye--Mitsurugi can pwn you like there's no tomorrow unless you get up quickly.
Oh yeah--Damascus Sword rules. |
