I think they're referring to a thread for just planning the sessions...not actually playing D&D.
Because that wouldn't work very well.
I hear these stories a lot. |

I'm a GM and I live in Marietta, GA. BUUUT, I'm new to D & D (I've played ICE - Middle Earth- for about 10 years and recently got fed up with it's lack of melee attack avoidance options). I bought the series 3 D & D set but have yet to really understand it. If someone would want to assisst me with the play mechanics, I'll have NO PROBLEM with a campaign. |

Dude, Shado, anytime. I can do my best. I've been working on a tutorial for character creation for 3rd edition D&D, so I understand at least most of the basics. The rest you get from the manual and such.
Or you can pester Godwyn. He DM'd in 3rd edition for me and the rest of the PMS gang for years. |

Yeah seriously. If its a question from the Core Rulebooks for D&D 3.5, I can most likely answer it without even having to look at the book for reference ! I'm such a dork |

I hear ya buddie I can do the same. And last week my GF who only started playing like a month ago offically became a DnD dork. We had this new player join the group and she was asking all these questions about how to build her char, I was about to help her but was finishing up with another player when my GF heard the question and said while handing over the PHB "Sorcerer is on pg 51 and its spells are start in chap 11...(5 second pause)...OH GOD I'VE BECOME ONE OF YOU!"
the whole room fell over in laughter. It was great. the thing I found the weirdest is that my GF as never played a sorcerer and doesn't like spellcasters. |

Heh. A friend of mine converted his GF in much the same way. Him and I both run seperate campaigns, and have both occasionally played characters in each others. While she can now adequately participate in a discussion, or at a minimum know when we are talking about it insteaed of some other game, she still gets annoyed when we will start discussing character builds and feat progressions and requirements from additional supplemental books, without having any references at all.
A good example of this is when the three of us went out to lunch after our morning classes a few weeks ago. Taco Bell, yumm. And I set forth my proposition for a fighter based around the feats of Karmic Strike, from the Complete Warrior, and Robilar's Gambit, from PHBII. Much of the discussion revolved around whether or not both would function off on a single attack, since both feats give an attack of opportunity against your opponent from either attacking you, or from hitting you. I think they would as they both count off of different parts of the attack.
Obviously, this is only a good setup with a high dex and combat reflexes, otherwise the multiple opportunities are wasted. Although I seem to be the only one keen on a build that requires being attacked, I figure thats a tanks job anyways, and getting 2 attacks for every 1 attack on you, evens out well. |
