Best western ever. I quote it all the time.
When someone needs a volunteer
"I'm your Huckleberry"
When someone proposes something
"You're a daisy if you do."
If they fail
"Why, you're not a daisy at all"
if they hesitate (usually while playing poker)
"Why, Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked all over your grave"
If challenged (usually in poker)
"OK, lunger, let's do this!"
If someone isn't paying attention (while playing poker)
"Hey, lovin man, you've been called!"
If someone's complaining (once again, usually in poker)
"Nobody cheated ya, Ike!"
And finally, if someone challenges me (in poker, of course)
"Go on, boy, skin that smokewagon and see what happens!"
So many quotes, so great to use, such a classic film!!!

I'm not usually a big fan of stuffy westerns, but Tombstone put a humorous spin on it, whch made it good. I also like Young Gunss. Last western I saw was Unforgiven. It was pretty good.

Isn't it, "I'm here Huckleberry?"
Tombstone is a great western but I'm with the Ultra one his list is real good for westerns.
Just throw in Hang 'Em High and a series called "Rawhide"
Oh and "Two Mules for Sister Sarah" This one is one of my all time favs. |

Funny Double, considering I just watched this on Friday.
Tombstone continues the grand tradition of exploring what happens when someone decides to do the right thing. Wyatt Earp did not come to Tombstone AZ with the intent to clean up the town, he came to try and have the life he always thought he wanted. Life of course, had other plans for the Earp Bros, and the whole movie revolves around what a man has to sacrifice in the name of the greater good.
As for favorite quotes of mine:
"You are a good woman. Then again, you may also be the Anti-Christ." (Best quote I've seen to explain the fairer sex yet)
"You tell them that I'm comin'. And Hell's comin' with me!" (Why oh why did they not give him a pale horse to ride?) |

I was very impressed with "The Magnificant Seven" - which was a western spin on Akira Kurasawa's "The Seven Samurai". "The Magnificant Seven" gives us a popular theme song you'll recognize right off and also a 3 season TV series that spun off of it. |

On that subject,
Fistful of Dollars was based off Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo ^^. |

You can't have a list of westerns without having a long list of John Wayne movies. One of the best westerns, purely comedy, was McLintock! Also, The Shootist, The Sons of Katty Elder, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, True Grit, all great John Wayne pictures. The Quick and The Dead was really good. Unforgiven was just bad ass!
Tombstone is one of my favorite movies, it made me like Val Kilmer, and made Doc Holliday one of my favorite people in history. (He was originally a dentist) My favorite quote is when they ask him why he is helping Wyatt after Wyatt's younger brother is killed, and he says
"'Cause Wyatt Earp is my friend."
Other guy "Yeah, Well I have plenty of friends..."
Doc Holliday " I don't." |
