Saw the movie tonight with Faye. Different expereince, but worth seeing overall. It really had the right feel and scape of Narnia, even if a few things were moved about. Not that the moving abotu was really that bad - a newcomer to Narnia wouldn't even notice and someone who red it in teh past might not have noticed if you hadnt read them in a while.
Asalon isn't given the deity-like feeling he inherits in the books, but retains all of his good qualities. The roar is FANTASTIC everytime and the last battle is easily the highlight of the movie - giving you that LotR last battle feel. The CG is top notch, seemlessly blending real life and full blown animal characters in a way Ive never seen (the badgers in chain mail was a personal favorite).
You wont be dissapointed very much, its worht seeing in the theater for the great roaring effect. Dont let it pass you by on the rental shelves if you choose not to see it in the theater though. |

I have to say, I was enthralled with this movie. Couldn't tear my eyes away from it. It was everything I wanted it to be and more! Growing up with the books, watching the cartoon and the BBC miniseries just made my anticipation for this movie even greater. So I went in probably being one of the hardest people to get this movie past without some scrutiny and I have to say I was not disappointed at all.
I HIGHLY recommend going to see this. It's an amazing masterpiece and absolutely one I will own in my library of movies when the DVD comes out. It's jawdropping with all the animal. You really feel they cast fawns and centaurs. Just phenomenal.
(I agree with Dai - the beavers in chainmail was a nice touch!)
It was visually stunning and the actors did an amazing job. Even if you aren't familiar with the books you certainly will have a fun time watching this film. I laughed and I most definitely cried (it was just so beautiful) and the Lucy in me gives this the highest praise. |

Almost, he is the the son of the emporer across the sea... yeah i know too much baout it. I saw it and loved it though. Although i will note one crazy scary thing about that movie, well two, but first the wierd part:
Lucy in the movie looks and acts almost exactly like my little sister did at that age, i'll try and scan a pic to show you guys later on.
Second, who would have thought a moo could be as menacing as that minatar general made it.... |

moo
Anyways. Having finished reading the Lion the witch and the wardrobe a mere 2 hours before seeing the film, I have to say that I would have enjoyed the movie a lot more had I not read the book first. Dont get me wrong, the movie was great. There were just a few things I would have liked to have seen that werent there, and a few things I could have done without. And seeing as how the book is barely 100 pages long, I dont think that is too much to ask. Regardless, the CG was superb, easily on par with Advent Children or better. The voice acting was phenominal. At first I expected Aslan to have more of a James Earl Jones kinda voice, but I have to say, they couldnt have done any better than Liam Neison(SP?). He fit the role quite well. Now I just have to finish the books real quick.
This movie gets the Faye seal of approval. Definatly worth going to see in the theatres. |

Well I'd never read the books as a kid and I had close to a blank slate walking in. I liked it. Although I wasn't as enthralled as everyone else that's understandable since it wasn't a part of my childhood. I think it was a very good story and I appreciated it as such being a storyteller myself. I didn't really have any major faults but at the same time I wasn't drooling for more after all was said and done. I was content. |

Before going to see the movie, I read a review for it in People magazine that complained that "it had too many christian undertones."
...
FLIPPIN TARDS!!!! Of course it has flippin Christian undertones!! Did they ever read the flippin' book?!? (by the way, I am not Christian in the slightest X)
But yeah, after watching it, I would say that it wasn't any more "Christian" than the book. Stupid people. They're just looking for an excuse not to like it x_x They also said it was "too epic," which is also BS; again, the book was rather epic o.o;
Anyway. I think it's been done well twice before. And it's been done well again, this time with a huge fantastic Hollywood budget! So no surprise there. Although I was very much in love with how they portrayed the White Witch in this movie. The fact that she had Aslan's fur, which was cut off before he died, used to decorate her chain-mail dress for the battle, and the way she duel-wielded a sword an her ice-staff was just BEAUTIFUL. They made her so evil, vindictive, and all-around bad-arse =D It really tickled me. I loved it. X)!
My only complaint would be that Edmund wasn't evil enough. In the book and in the other movie and tv show, up until the point where they saved Edmund, he was an absolute bastard, and in this movie they made him out to be more of a victim. Which I guess is alright; it's just an interpretation. But still. I enjoyed it when Edmund was evil. X)!
They also made Tumnus really pretty, and somewhat underplayed the relationship between him and Lucy. Does anybody else have any thoughts on this?

That's why I didn't read the book again before going in to watch the movie (it's been at least six years since the last time I read it). Movies are just so much more fun and easy to enjoy when you're not comparing it to something else in your head =) |
