Ok I don't know about you guys, but I'm diffenately looking forward to seeing this when it it comes out in december. I'm going to see it on my birthday. With some friends. were going in our kendo outfits. Actaully I'm going to be in a japanese shool uniform, and carring my friends sister on my shoulder it's going to be fun. Any else looking forward to seeing this peice? |

Yeah for my birthday were having a japanese ceramonial party. ^_^ Memoirs Of A Geisha is the perect adition to the whole day, we'll go to the movies, go to KOBE come back to my place have sake and ramen watch japanese animation and have a sparring contest.
But back to the subject at hand.. I never got a chance to read the book, I had heard of it, but never got the chance to buy it. But I am diffenately looking forward to seeing this i'm pumped. As a matter of fact, I asked my boss if I could have the lightup standy that we have for the movie, after we're done with with it, and he said yes.
It's 7 feet tall, and has a face of a geisha girl with blue eyes and black hair litup on it. Very nice, my new nightlight.  |

I already posted my views on this movie in the other Memoirs of a Geisha topic.
Basically, I think they've f***ed the story with a giant pointy stick, not to mention ruining the illusion by casting Chinese actresses in Japanese roles. >:{ |

that doesn't sound to good. Why woud they cast chinese actresses in a story line of Kyoto japan.... Oh well I'm still looking forawrd to it. Even if it's not following proper code. But I still don't see how that is going to work, because you can't exactly teach japanese to chinese orients. The vouls and pronouncations are different, it's two entirely different background and languages. So no doubt it's going to be odd, not to mention the subtitles are going to fall to the ground.

That may be true in the way of apperances. But if you listen to the way they speak you can tell the difference. I pretty much would consider this an insult not your comment but the fact that their putting chinese actresses in a entirely different culture and background. The story is based in the town of Kyoto "japan" there is a big mistake here. And because of the fact that the story takes place in kyoto, it's going to cause conflicts the language is susposed to be japanese with subtitles, as a I said before you can't exspect chinese orients to know a language, just because they are asains not all asains are alike, it dosen't work that way. The subtitles in this movie as far as I can tell are going to be all wrong. And it's going to cause a huge dispute in the theaters. it is an outrage, and as i said before basicly considered a horrible insult to the wonderful culture of japan. |
