Yeah that would be our apartment complex. So the trash compactor broke A WEEK AGO. I understand that it takes time to get someone to look at it and order a part, however, when you rope off the only area for garbage dispossal for the entire apartment complex, something should be done quickly.
And if its not something thats going to be fixed soon they could get a temporary dumpster and pay to have it hauled away. Garabage disposal is a service we pay for, right now Exo and I are paying for yellow caution tape. And in the meantime the trash is just going to keep piling up. Argh. |

Sorry, but I'd refuse to pay the portion of my bill that covers the trash compactor services. You pay them to deliver, when all they're delivering is caution tape, thats not right. Try to get with your neighbors and get them to talk with the landlord about a temp fix until the issue goes away. And if your neighbors are lazy peeps, just ask them to sign a letter of complaint stating that without action, there will be no payment. If they give you guff, write a letter to the editor. Don't stop. My boss rented this loft apartment downtown for like 1k a month (which is really high for around here). When she moved in, their only elevator to the building was broken, so she drug 2 couches and minimal supplies up 3 stories of stairs equivalent to 6 floors (with an outbreak of some autoimmune disease worse than lupus) and lived on the couch for 2 months. Finally after getting trapped in the newly repaired elevator for 3 hours one day, she gave her notice. She was going to break the lease and leave. Teaching her husband a lesson just wasn't worth all that. The landlord begged her to stay and offered her 3 months free rent. Now, this may not be a big deal, but she only had a 6 month lease. So she was living there for 6 months and paying 1k total. Pretty good deal. Eventually, she ended moving out early anyways. With her illness, she wasn't supposed to be on her feet much, not to mention, it was in the summer and the staircase wasn't air conditioned, so if she wasn't sick at first, she definately was once she got to her place. If they really want your money (and everyone else's), they'll cooperate. |

Yeah....I'd start up a strike with the other tenants and refuse to pay the bill until it was fixed. My Aunt used to do that all the time--whenever the heat broke in her apartment complex (in NYC), the tenants would go on rent strike until it was fixed. |
