The Growlimb

I have found new inspiration in a book I've currently been reading called "*THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF* BEST NEW HORROR" And so far i've read 4 stories and I'm in the center of the 5th, the name of this story is called "The Growlimb" it's by Micheal Shea. In the story a fifty year old war scard counciler by the name of Carl Larken is working at a company called "Humanity Icoperated" counciling emtional, unstable, and scard people from what ever tramas they have incountered. Well he goes out for a midnight jog and somewhere along the way he gets a spark of inspriation in the most bazarre way ever. He sees this old half demolished brick hut, and inside the hut are various scatters of trash and some old torn of road worker clothes, now this is where it gets insane, he remembers he saw a dead possum about a half amile back, so he back tracks finds the possum and cuts off his feet and tail and brings it back to the hut, sticks the feet in each of the leg loops of the road worker pants and sticks the tell under the back belt loop, and he says, "I've done it, i've created something" and to him this something is sentamental. He calls it the clothes ghost. Later on he decided to give it an offering... so he goes and finds a dead silver fox, and stuffs the fox under the road worker shirt, as he's doing this he gets bitten by something to the bone tendons showing and all. This lady sees his hand wrapped up in cloth and it's dark crimson red, she goes "How did you hurt that hand" he smiles apolgeticly, and says "I was bitten" "bitten by what?" she ask, "by a god." a god that is going to rise from these country hills, one that is going to be born from them, it has promised me immortality" he says. and get this the guy thinks the bite was a sign of appreciation for the offering he gave.

But to me this story is pretty bazarre and insane. But anyways you'll have to read the book for yourself. Here's a picture i drew of the "Clothes ghost" it is what I pictured in my head as he was putting the parts together.

Okay, so while that made no sense at all, I might actually have to read that story.
