I have a 7 year old laptop, an IBM thinkpad 570. The motherboard battery finally farted. It needs to be replaced. Typical CR2032. Problem: it's connected in the worst way possible. I swear when they built it they said WHEN THIS BATTERY DIES, THE USER MUST BY A NEW LAPTOP (or reset their bios settings every time they boot)

3 stabs in the fingers from my knive, 3 bandaids, a little blood and sweat, and

It's almost like the connectors are soldered to the battery. How do I change this sucker? I don't want to have to send it away and pay shipping/labour over a $5 battery.

You already have one?

If not...

Do these look right?

I was looking for a tutorial online or something but I can't see one. From that first link... it looks as if you unplug the entire housing of it.

My dad and I ghetto'd it. Connectors to the battery were cut. Remaining connectors soldered to the ends of a new battery. Net cost: $2. Canadian.

Win Very Happy
