The cherry blossoms down by the river are blooming :D So I went and took pictures after I got off work today. (It was so nice and sunny this morning...so of course, by the time I got off work, it was raining again XD! darn this pacific northwest weather! XP )
A view across the Willamette river (the cherry blossoms are on the west side, the buildings are on the east side; downtown PDX is behind me on the west side):

And last but not least, a picture of the park. You can sort of see the blizzard of blossoms that the wind kicked up:
It was so gorgeous, and breathtaking to be there. And the smell! Ah, the smell was wonderful. X)! |

I live in Portland, Oregon =) There's another member on PO that lives here too.
There are a couple of other states that house cherry blossoms/cherry blossom festivals. One of the biggest is in Washington DC--in 1912, the city of Tokyo gave the people of DC 3,000 cherry trees, so they hold this huge festival every year to commemorate it. Georgia also has a really big cherry blossom festival in Macon. |

I've been to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC ^_^ I love it, I just wish going to DC wasn't so annoying, I'd go more often. |

We had a sakura tree at the house but one summer there was a drought and it died. >_<; I haven't ever been off when they have the festival in Macon. I'd like to go to it one year. <3's ^__^ Your lucky there are so many near you! |

Awww, that's sad (about the tree dying). Even though Macon is kind of far away, I highly recommend going to see the cherry trees. It's so amazing =D |
