The Godfather

Well it's been out almost a month and no one has really posted anything, so I'll take a whack at it. The game is, IMHO, amazing. Yes, it has a definite GTA feel, but there are many differences that makes it rise above the GTA series.

1. First and Foremost is of course the storyline and the fact that it's the actual movies and they got the original actors to come do the voices for additional storyline to help further expand the world of Godfather.

2. The Blackhand system, while taking some getting used to, is a really cool combat system.

3. You actually feel like you're in the game, and I have yet to get bored, unlike GTA, where after I blow up my 5th car the game gets old.

4. You climb the mafia ranks from Outsider to Don. Of course it's not the prize, it's the course you take to win it. It's really cool to rise in the ranks.

5. Everyone has that hint of them that wants to be a criminal. To take what you want, and to be respected and/or feared. The GTA series made you a thug who did it, but it doesn't have the authenticity that Godfather does. I mean, Godfather defined what it was to be a gangster. If you want a game that truly depicts organized crime and warring crime families, THIS is that game.

All in all, I enjoy the game immensely, and here's where I drop the bomb. I've never seen any of the movies. However, after playing the game, I'm going to go out and purchase them THIS weekend.

Well, on a recap, after you upgrade to the streetsweeper, the game gets crazy easy. I just made Don, and now I really don't have the driving force to collect all the collectables to become Don of NYC. So... back to the old drawing board.
