Neeee.
This morning I went to the Atlanta Civic Center for Bodies: The Exhibition.

The exhibit is divided into the systems of the body (circulatory, digestive, skeletal, etc.) and uses actual human bodies to showcase these systems. Basically, they first preserve the body, take out what they want to take out to show what they want to show, then acetone is used to eliminate all the body water. Finally, the body is immersed in silicone and a catalyst is then used to harden the body into the desired pose. Almost all the full-body uh, cadavers, are in poses such as running, sitting on a tree stump, or throwing a baseball to make them appear as close as possible to a live human being. There are also some demonstrations of organ damage caused by smoking, Alzheimer's, etc, and even some examples of fetuses with birth defects (that room is optional).

I learned more than I ever would've realized from this exhibit...and it's all strangely beautiful. I especially have to comment on the circulatory system area. It was dark, with black walls, black everything. The only thing that was lit in the area were the bodies (and parts of the bodies). There was no other color in the room but deep blue and blood red, and it was so...pretty. I have a new appreciation for the human body itself and now can't help thinking about it all when I see a human body in motion. It's a little overwhelming. o.o; So yeah, take a look at the website, and I recommend everyone should go check it out(even if you're squeamish). It's $20 per person (takes about 3 1/2 hours to get through...depending on how fast you read and how long you look), and I think they have an exhibit open in New York for the PONY. Very Happy So think about it.

I saw it last year when it was in L.A.
I have to agree with Akanari, it's definitly worth checking out if you're in the area. I love the artistic bodies at the end of the exhibit, like the one with the "wings" Very Happy
