Divx - Stage6

I love me some YouTube. I'll bet most of you do. It's easily accessible video content... and a easy way to blow half of your work/school day.

However, what they sacrifice for accessibility is the quality of the videos. YouTube encodes all of their videos to Flash, which while easy to stream, looks like crap on your monitor.

Enter Stage6. Some of you may be familiar with an etremely popular video codec/player/encoder called Divx. It does a beautiful job of compressing while keeping the original quality of the video. If you've ever downloaded any fansubs they're likely encoded in Divx or Xvid. You've likely seen me pimp Divx with some of my vids in the past. I love it. But not everyone can be bothered to download the Divx software. Stage6 makes things a little easier. Basicially, sign up (free, of course), download the web player extension and start watching extremely high quality videos.

Stage6 is pretty new (currently in alpha), but I really want to see this succeed. I urge you guys to check it out and start poking around (rating videos, uploading your own, etc).
