On this day in 2001 the world changed forever.

The World Trade Center in New York was attacked using two commercial aircraft to crash into the towers. So where were you?

I was at a mates, I'd had my induction day for my second attempt at going to college, we'd finished early and I went over to his to play a bit of multiplayer Dreamcast, I think we were making circuits on Re-Volt.

His mum came running up the stairs, which I found odd as she usually just screamed his name from the bottom of the stairs!

she told us to turn "that junk off" and put the news on, just in time to see someone fall from the towers.

I knew it was something big, and something that would be discussed for years and years, many found it digusting or upsetting, I was fascinated (I still am, sort of) and couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I think we watched the news for 3 hours that afternoon, then I carried on watching when got home. The only even that has kept me watching the news since then was 7/7.

Myself? I missed it live - French 103 in the basement of the Modern Languages Building. The first inkling I had that something was wrong was passing through the basement of the student union and seeing something on the TVs. After that, we watched and saw what happened in replay. Rather interesting day, that one.

I was in my middle school library looking for a book to read for class. I didn't really understand what was going on. Almost everyone that was in the library was in the librarians little work area, not quite an office but close. I was to scared and confused to walk in and watch with them. Throughout that day, in all my classes, the news was on.

Id love to say I was doing something meaningful or productive, but I was honestly gettin it on with Aradia. I was one year out of high school and working at an arcade at the time, amber was still in high school. I dont know what her day was like, but the mall was the emptiest Id ever seen. It was like a ghost town. The people that did come in played shooting games looking for some sort of out let for all the fear and anger. Everyone was talkiitive, but in a mournful way.

I was on my way back from Information Systems class. I heard a lot of sirens and commotion going on in the distance (I went to school in New York City, in the Bronx). I was wondering what was going on, when one of the upperclassmen stuck his head out of a window of a building I was walking past and was yelling to his friend below, "Did you hear? A plane hit the World Trade Center!"

Classes were cancelled for the rest of the day, and I went back to my room and watched the news with my roommates and some commuter friends (who we let stay with us for the night, as transportation was shut down). When the wind started blowing, we could smell the smoke that was rising from the crumbling towers.

I had just arrived at work. This is when I was working with IBM.

Shortly after I got there, my project architect (who happens to be my current boss as a different job) walked in and said "Did you hear?"

He told me about the first plane hitting. The second hadn't hit yet. After it did, and we heard about it, he turned and said to me... "We're under attack."

They closed the offices that morning and we all went home.

In high school, worrying to death about my family and friends in NYC. One of them didn't make it (my uncle's brother, who worked in the World Trade Center). I remember going to my father's house and he was almost in tears.

Luckily, though, three other members of my family weren't even in the city; they had left that morning to go visit grandparents up in the mountains. I was so relieved when they called; I can't even describe that emotion.

I was at school. My first class I didn't hear about it, but then I went to band right about the same time the second plane hit, and it was on the TVs and Antinua clued me in as to what was going on.

We didn't actually do much in our classes after that, but watch the news, if I remember correctly. At least, I know we did that in band and whatever class I had right after that.
