I stopped respecting EA Sports after playing a hockey game at a friend's house and hearing gratuitiously useless tips such as "Press the slapshot button to execute a slapshot!"

I've been playing Madden 07 lately but only because of their "NFL Lockout" exclusivity contract. The last madden I played regularly was Madden 2000. I gotta say, they've made quite a jump in the last seven years! Go EA!

I did like that with FIFA actually, when you logged online it auto downloaded the latest squads for you, including injuries and such. Just a pity the actual gameplay was just soulless.

Well it's not just a sports game thing tho, it's an EA thing. From what I read similar issues have happened in Battlefront, and other non-sports EA games.

Moreover, altho EA sells a bazillion Maddens a year, it's not the same people buying all the copies every year. They lose 500 customers in this area, they know they gain 30,000 in that area. That's the thing behind the "EA Cover Boy" thing. The Superbowl winners (keeping on madden but it applies to all EA, and maybe all, sports games) get a noticable boost in stats. The Superbowl winners are very popular. Hence, more people will buy the game because they know they can do better with "their" team. Nobody's gonna buy madden, at this stage in the game, because of Ray Lewis, Terrell Owens, Marshall Faulk, or any other cover boy. THEY'RE IN THE GAME ALREADY! It's not like Tony Hawk or Matt Hoffman, who aren't affiliated with leagues. If you buy an NFL game you're gonna get to play with those guys. But if they're a cover boy then you know "I can abuse 'em with my man here". Terrell can catch in a crowd of four defenders in the game, I just wish they'd be realistic and make him disrupt team chemistry midway thru the season.

Idk except that they are keeping the same running design across all their series from year to year but are adding things in each year that, to me, make it worth getting. Example is the huge jump from madden 06 to madden 07. Crazy stuff happend.

I think FIFA's a bti mroe balanced, I managed to lose 3-0 to Blackburn with Arsenal, yet beat Chelsea and Liverpool 4-0 in the games immediatly after, so its nothing to do with morale or hwat have you.

Mind you, I think someone involved in doing the stats is a Tottenham Hotspurs fan, they're about 50 times better than they are in real life, they're one of the hardest teams to play against!
