While browsing around the NaNoWriMo forums, I came across this super-handy program to generate a custom map: AutoREALM.
The proggy is basically some sort of Photoshop made especially for map building. You can make world maps, street maps, dungeon maps, etc. You have a fractal line tool to simulate coastlines. You have icons to mark the placement of cities, objects of interests, traps and such. You even have a layer system, for instance you could, in one file, make a player and a DM version of the same map easily.
I already went ahead and started fooling around with my universe project and managed to get all that done in a bit less than two hours: Pic!
Imagine that, we could make a map of Miniopia and update it in a pinch!  |

Fascinating! ^^ I've been looking around NaNoWriMo a bit myself, but with finals being that month, I've decided against trying it.
This map program, though, sounds amazing. I may have to look into it more. <3 |

This program greatly amuses me. Being able to make a Player and DM version of a map is especially a fantastic feature. Thanks a lot for dropping the link here, Shuri - I might get some milage out of this *goes off to tinker* |
