I wish "Happy Dewali/Deepavali" (Oct 21), festival of light, to those who celebrate it.

I personally celebrate the "Eid Mubarak/Eid al-Fitri" (Oct 24 & 25), after almost a month fasting during the daylight. I think I’m the only Muslim here on PO community. Maybe some of you wonder why we fast during the Ramadhan or before our festival. Fasting serves many purposes. While we are hungry and thirsty, we are reminded of the suffering of the poor. Fasting is also an opportunity to practice self-control and to cleanse the body and mind. And in this most sacred month, fasting helps us feel the peace that comes from spiritual devotion as well as kinship with fellow believers.

I will be going back to my grandparent’s place where we are going to have a huge family gathering (about 50 cousins) and visiting other relatives for few days. As previous years, I would like to take this opportunity to seek for forgiven from all of you if I’ve ever hurt anyone’s feeling intentionally or unintentionally. You all have my forgiveness too, not that anyone’s have hurt my feeling but I just feel I need to say it.

PEACE!

Love..
-Skylah-

Funny that Mod's Day would fall on on Dewali for this year.

Namaste everyone, and Modbless!

I remember whe I lived back in Nottingham, the news would rport the Dewavli festivals in neighbouring Leicester (which is one of the biggest Muslim communities in the UK, some racist people from that area refer to it as the capital of Pakistan......) and just thinking wow. When you look at Christian festivals, they really are a case of "yeah, we celebrate our religion when we feel like it" but seeing the stuff going on in Leicester year after year you knew these were people that really followed their faith.

Happy Dewali Skylah

Hardly, that's what the 'Namaste' is for.

And Mod's Day happens to be the day that I first joined PO, October 21st in 2002. It has now become a celebration of Mod to go along with Founder's Day (September 15 2002)

Enjoy Breaking the Fast with your family Shareen!

I...have no idea what you are talking about, but Happy Diwali...or whatever it is. >>;;

I'm agnostic, but because of my family I celebrate christian holidays and that is all I really know. I know of other things, like hanika(That so is not right. xP), but I barely know when they start or end. ^^;
