Nintendo revealed some additional details on Wii's system settings.

* Parental Control feature does not apply to GameCube games
* If you use the messaging feature on the Wii console, Nintendo may monitor your usage and share certain information as required by law
* Initial recommended distance for using the Wii Remote is 3 to 8 feet from the sensor bar. Direct sunlight and various light sources can interfere or make the Wii Remote operation less optimal.
* By formatting the Wii Shop Channel from the Wii System menu, you will clear all records of your transactions and rights to download software

- Sonic Solutions announced that Nintendo has chosen Sonic CinePlayer CE DVD Navigator as the Wii DVD playback solution. Nintendo plans to release a software based DVD Playback engine in 2nd half of 2007 to enable Wii to playback DVD videos.
- Namco Bandai president Shin Unozawa revealed the company is working on 30 new titles for Wii console; and 10 new titles for PlayStation 3 and 10 new titles for Xbox 360.
- Nintendo of America announced they will invest over 200 million dollars US in the next 12 months to market the Wii console in North America. Approximately 80% of advertisement will target adults in an attempt to expand the market beyond children and teens. Nintendo expects to sell 1.5 millions Wii by the end of the year.
I believe 1.5 million is a conservative figure. If they can have them available, I'd guess Nin will sell twice that many resulting from PS3 shortages alone. By March (when all the weak XMas gifts get returned) I'd add another .5-1 million. When Pokemon Battle Revolution comes out, increase that number by 17 million! |

Well if the third parties get behind them this time and releases are staggerd accordingly, they can keep a constant number of sales each month.
I think one of the most intelligent things Nintendo ever did in Europe at least was releasing Metroid Prime during the summer drought. It had no competition and was literally allowed to shine.
I think thats the problem with the 360, especially this month, theres just too much coming out for it that people want imediatly that its going to have a huge quiet period! |
