We saw this Friday when it opened and there were applause at the end.
It was a great movie. They went back to basics...Bond has just been granted 00 status. There are no gadgets, no Q, no Money Penny. Just Bond using his best weapon, himself.
It's very high on the action side...a few humor elements and as most have seen in the previous, they kept Dame Judy Dench as M...which was a wonderful decision.
2 token Bond girls this round, but no major names...which IMHO, is the best way to go.
I think they lost hold of 007 when they hit so many stars that it distracted from the movie. The movie is supposed to be about Bond, not Halle Berry, not Madonna. And Casino Royale did it right.
I HIGHLY recommend seeing it. |

I cant wait to see it, Bond is really a darker character once you get down to the basics of it. And I'm happy to hear that they are taking this film more in that direction. |

That was a big thing on Daniel Craig's part. As I read it, he wanted to play a Bond that was a real guy, that took real hits and was human on a level Peirce Brosnan wasnt. Im really excited to see this and i cant wait until I make it to the theater to do so. |

I'm going to see it in a little while with Rev. If I'm right (and anyone who has read the original Ian Fleming novels feel free to correct me), wasn't the original James Bond character really supposed to be more of a regular looking guy (Sean Connery), instead of a pretty boy (Roger Moore/Pierce Brosnan)? To me, that's what Daniel Craig as Bond seems to be a revival of. He's handsome, but not a pretty boy, and much more rugged. |

Not sure if I would say "A fresh start". Only because they are remaking the original (though the first production was pretty lame), and to me it seems unclear as to whether they will recreate the originals, start some sort of new timeline, or let the Bond series end with the beginning. |

This was the only James Bond flick I have ever enjoyed.
They didn't give him any gadgets aside from things easily obtainable if you know where to look. ALSO! The villian tried to torture him in a REAL feasible way, I also feel given the chance would have killed Bond while watching him die instead of leaving him alone in a room with a slow moving laser. |

Theyre using the original novel yes but the first film was Dr No.
I always said, right from seeing Layer Cake, that Daniel Craig would make a good Bond and so far I'm right.
The last Bond I enjoyed all the way through was Goldeneye, before it got far too cheesy at the end of the Brosnan era with Die Another Day |
