So I'm playing with the Photo Viewer and I (after a month) see that it SAYS it can also play movie files
OK, I have just loaded up my SD card with 4 different types of movie files: AVI, MPEG, Quicktime, and MPE. The only one it recognized as even being a movie was the AVI file. It still wouldn't play it saying that it was a file type that was not supported but at least it read it, the other three didn't even register.
I can't find my manual right now but if anyone knows just what types of files it does read, feel free to chime in. |

I've got a modded xbox and use that as my media center so I haven't looked much into watching vids on the Wii.

That program will apparently convert vids into a format viewable by a wii, but the compression is horrible... huge file sizes. Hope you have a 2GB card. 
Another option may be streaming to the wii... I haven't tried this yet, but I'm going to play around with it tonight.

EDIT:
So I guess the wii media center will only read .flv (flash video) files. There are tons of shareware converts out there, but few free. You can google for 'em or use this one:
Super Video Converter
It's clunky looking, but does a great job and has lots of options. Oh... and free. |

The Wii has no problems reading >MOV files...Since that's what my camera records in and that's what plays in Photo viewer. |
