I thought White Wolf worked in conjunction with some other gaming company to put out some PC games...I could be wrong though, I just thought I recalled seeing a vampire game at a Hasting once that was made by them... |

I don't know much about them. I have a Vampire: The Masquerade character who kicks people in the nuts and I've played it only once, and even then with a bad GM. I couldn't kill a guy easily, so the GM says, "Ninjas drop out of the sky and slaughter him." Not a very good job at GMing, if you ask me.
I think you can play online at http://www.White-Wolf.com but I'm not sure. I know my friend Thomas plays it online somewhere. |

I play the Werewolf lines with some friends around here. Sadly the game has gone down in popularity over the last few years and there are not that many online forums left for it. Feel free to ask questions though.

I have played almost all of the White Wolf games, Hunter, Mage, vampire the masquerade, vamp dark ages, werewolf 2nd and 3rd edition, exalted, well they are all great games, but the recent thing with the whole "End Time" thing, just like sueing Underworld, is a publicity stunt. I mean they have to face it, they charge wayy too much for their books, so people go and download them. This coupled with a dieing popularity means they had to do something. But I object to what they are doing, its in one word "retarded". Not dissing them or flaming them but there are millions of other ways to have changed it, they just chose not to. Sory been wanting to say this for awhile and my old WW group have all gone druggy.. (By the way that IS just a coincidence lol) |

Well.. having some minor ties to WW, I have trouble seeing it that way. For one thing, publicity stunt though it may be, at least WW is sending out the World of darkness with a bang instead of what happens with most RPGs... they silently go out of print and just disappear from the shelves. (Some of my favorite games have nodded in and out of print for the past 15 years now.) And just cuz a game is out of print, that doesn't mean you can't play it. I mean, the Vampire LARP will be around forever.
As for suing Sony over Underworld, it was a legal cya move. I know that sounds stupid, but it's a question of how case law works. There are several things in Underworld that are too similar to the World of Darkeness to be coincidence, and there are a number of fans who took to asking White Wolf about "their" new vampire movie. So basically, Underworld had significant parts of its story that infinged upon White Wolf's copyrights and caused confusion among their customers.
Sony had plans to build Underworld into a major property, with all kinds of licensing... video games, collectables, all kinds of stuff. A few years down the road they might have brought out Underworld the Role Playing Game. If WW hadn't made a legal stink about the movie--how it infringes on their copyrights and confuses their customers (according to the legal definition), they would have no legal legs to stand on when claiming copyright infringement if/when Sony released an infringing product that directly competed with WW's role playing, computer and live action games.
Yeah, it's annoying that WW sued Sony. I'd rather it hadn't come up, and when they first announced the suit, the timing sounded fishy. Unfortunately, the way our laws work they had to take legal action now, before Underworld expanded into a huge franchise and steamrolled them and their copyrights out of the market.
And frankly, if I worked at White Wolf I'd be glad to bring the World of Darkness to an end. It's been running a long time now, longer than many RPGs go. I'm glad they're having some fun with the end of it and I hope they succeed in bringing out a new set of games that people love (and buy) as much as WoD. (I know people like Exalted, but it hasn't brought in the money like WoD did.) I'd rather not see White Wolf got the way of almost every other non WotC RPG company. |

i agree with that last statement. Its kind of adding something really cool to end, as opposed to the storyline just stoping and leaving you wondering what will happen next.

I love their game !^___^
Yes I think it's possible. I have two comunity of role-play and I think it's possible to do too for a white wolf game.
I'm already playing vampire masquerade live and I'll soon be Dm for a game live. |

Nice very nice! Okay yeah i have to agree with you philo actually. On several points, some of the bedgrudgingly. First, yes exalted is a gret game with no publicity. Heh, Oh and yes I guess I do have respect for this big bang ending for WoD. |
