Games to be released alongside their movie debuts.
By Patrick Klepek, 04/17/2007
The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor are about to join hands with Sonic and Tails, as Sega and Marvel announced this morning they've teamed up to deliver console, PC and handheld games based on the superheroes. The Incredible Hulk's the only one on the immediate horizon -- hitting theaters with Ed Norton as Bruce Banner on June 18, 2008 -- as these are intended to arrive alongside their film adaptations.
In fact, it was only a few months ago the same two companies revealed a partnership for an Iron Man videogame to be released day and date with the Jon Favreau-directed feature film, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Secret Level, also handling Sega's next-generation revival of the Golden Axe franchise, are developing the Iron Man game.
Marven must be happy with Iron Man's early progress, as the film and game won't arrive until May 2008. "We have already seen Sega's passion for the Marvel Universe through the early development of the Iron Man video game, and we look forward to working closely with them over the next few years to maximize the potential of these franchises in the interactive entertainment space," said Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel.

While IGN.com reports that the Iron Man movie will also release in 2008...
"April 18, 2007 - Captain America has a nigh-indestructible shield; Thor wields the mighty hammer Mjolnir; and Hulk, well, he smashes things. All three members of the merry Marvel family have found a new home with SEGA. Having already snatched the rights to publish an Iron Man game in 2008, SEGA has added Cap, Thor and the Incredible Hulk to its future game library.
As previously announced, Iron Man arrives first from SEGA in May of next year, in conjunction with the new feature film. The terms of the extended deal signed by SEGA and Marvel adds a Hulk title based on the June 2008 film. The new Hulk adventure will hit around the time of the movie's release. Thor and Captain America games, also linked to future films, will come later.
"Video games are an ideal medium to showcase the appeal and excitement of our Super Hero franchises," said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios. "SEGA is one of the industry's most innovative game developers and we are thrilled to partner with them to bring The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor to the video gaming arena. These franchises represent three of Marvel's most popular characters and lend themselves to captivating game play. We have already seen SEGA's passion for the Marvel Universe through the early development of the Iron Man video game, and we look forward to working closely with them over the next few years to maximize the potential of these franchises in the interactive entertainment space."
"We are excited to broaden our partnership with Marvel, a recognized leader and innovator in the entertainment industry," said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America. "As SEGA continues to create more games that are built from the ground up to appeal to Western audiences it makes perfect sense to work with a powerhouse company like Marvel that has established and beloved characters like The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. These are icons that people are already familiar with and love, so our goal is to give gamers the ability to play out their fantasies by actually becoming these Super Heroes. Fans can now not only watch them in movies and read about them in comic books, but also literally control their actions through the videogames we are creating. We look forward to bringing these icons to life like never before and putting the power in the hands of the fans."
With Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor under its control, SEGA almost has enough Marvel pieces to create the Avengers. For now, comic-book fans will have to settle for four solo affairs.
Though no developers were announced for the three upcoming titles, the trio will be made available on all next-gen consoles, handhelds and on PC." |

(sorry for the double post but I wanted this to be added separately)
And Gamespot chimes in with...
"Today, Sega has announced a multi-year partnership with Marvel Entertainment, Inc. to create and distribute games based on three of the publisher's most well-recognized comic book franchises: The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. These games will be partially based on the classic comic books that feature the characters from these franchises, but will primarily focus on the content of their upcoming feature films, set to debut in theaters in 2008, 2009, and 2009 respectively.
"This news follows Sega's previous announcement of their work on an Iron Man game, which will see a simultaneous release with the upcoming Iron Man movie that debuts in Summer 2008.
Little information is known at this point as both the games and films are still in their preliminary stages of development, but since The Incredible Hulk will be the first of the three to be released, it is at least known that Louis Leterrier (Unleashed, Transporter 2) is slated to direct the film. Sega has confirmed that the game will be released "in the same timeframe as the film".
The publisher/developer plans to release the games on a worldwide basis for console, handheld, and PC platforms, but has so far not stated anything more specific." |

Yeah, new Hulk movie but not a sequel or related in anyway to the god-aweful Ang Lee film. |
