Call me a Star Wars freak, or a sci-fi geek, but yes !! I LOVE STAR WARS and I got the new game, which Im gonna review now.
I have kind of time here at school since I finished my work for the mean time. Anyhow... here we go !!
Rebel Strike is nothing more than an 'add-on' to Rogue Leader. This game is a game made just to finish up what they couldnt put in Rogue Leader 'cuz of time constrains.
Im gonna be serious about this. And dont take me wrong...
The game is great. Great graphics, probly better than RL. Great sound... And Great, but SHORT gameplay.
The game starts up in the hidden level of RL Revenge of the Empire, which is what happened after the explosion of the Death Star in A New Hope.
Is not the same level, 'cuz they added some stuff, like the 'on foot' part in it, but is still a remake level. Then the game splits into 2 campaings. Luke and Wedge.
This is a good thing since you cane select who you want to play as, but the story is little messed up. Also the levels are kinda short.
For example, the Hoth level is just what happens after you crashed your Snowspeeder. The 'on foot' missions are short too. And I dont know why you get to Endor's Speeder bike race before you get your Jedi training. (As Luke)
Wedge's campaing is more coherent, but he wasnt in Hoth in this game, or at least you dont play as him in it. So its kinda weird.
The game has a good replay value if you like to get everything in the game, like Tech upgrades and Gold and Platinum medals. Other than that, the game is extremly short and not hard to beat. I beat it in 5 hours. 3 the day it came out and 2 the next day. Which is kind of disappointing. They only have 2 secret levels, one being the attack on the Star Destroyer Executor or Vader's Destroyer, (the big ass Star Destroyer, you know which 1 Im talking about !!), And Death Star rescue, which is when Han and Luke go rescue Leia in the Death Star. They have a 3rd Secret Level, but its an Endurance, (Killing waves and waves of bad guys) Which is not story based or anything, just a kill what you can thingy.
They must have secrets ships of course, but I havent unlocked any of them yet.
The game also offers a 2 player mode. You have the Co-op mode, which is the entire game of Rogue Leader in a 2 player split screen mode and a Versus mode.
I still havent been able to play these 'cuz I have no friends, but when I do, Ill sure post them up.
Versus has some nice options and modes, but I need to explore more.
In summary, the game is great if you're a Star Wars fan. If you just like Star Wars, then its good too. And if you wanted to play Rogue Leader for quite a while this game is great, just remember you need a friend to play it, which is the only downside, in my opinion.
I give this game a 8/10. The graphics are great, the sound is awesome, the controls are sweet !! And the gameplay is good, but short. If it wasnt for that, this game would have a complete 10 !!!
Well, you cant expect perfectness out of everything, can ya ?!
Also it has great extras when you beat the game, and the intro is the funniest one Ive seen.
If you have a Gamecube, check it out !! I think is worth a play or 10 !! :p |

WOO! I just bought this game yesterday for me GC and the guy gave me the disk with the cool atari game FREE! So needless to say I haven't played the Rebel Strike game...I've been too busy playing my favorite childhood game.
And when I bought RS: RS3 I actually said to the guy, "If this game sucks can I return it?" he said, 'No." like it was a conditioned response. Apparently everyone asked him.
I'm just hoping this game is good cause I passed up buying SSX3 to get it. |

Well... the disk you got is actually useless since you can get that Atari game in the game itself, and you get Empire Strike back arcade too. And apparently there's a passcode to get Return of the Jedi as well. |
