Clickage

So Microsoft has began banning people from using Live who have modified firmware. How they're doing it is unknown.

I don't care myself...I never use Live and think that buying games that can only be played on one console via DLing them is retarded. ^_^

Plus if they are checking the Disks the only games I'd be tempted to play online are real copies of the games anyway.

I basically have the modded X-box to rent games. I hate Game-fly and Blockbuster because if you rent a game and beat it you won't buy the game anyway so the game makers make no money anyway.

Games like Crackdown and Dead Rising have held my interest and have been purchased by me. Games like Viva Pinata I played for a day or two then don't feel like playing anymore.

Yeah, GAAZ you're right, when you rent a game from a company that PURCHASED MULTIPLE COPIES OF THE GAME the maker of said game, would of course NOT get PAID????.......is that what you meant to mean? Because that makes no sense. Renting games from Gamefly and then buying them for a discount when they send original boxes and instructions is a stupid idea. If anyone else thinks so too, I can give you a referral code for this kind of stupid idea.

p.s.

If these ppl are using the modded boxes evil-y then I say ban them, but dont search them out.

I'm on both.

I don't deserve to use Live cause I modded...But I never use Live anyway so I don't care.

I'm happy Microsoft has decided to not brick systems though. ^_^ Plus from what I can tell I still can receive console and game updates. I just can't play games on-line. Unless they come out with some super awesome on-line game that makes me want to return my 360 to Brandsmart for a new one I prolly will never care. Very Happy

As for the renting thing at one point the companies losses will be expunged and they will get money over the cost...If they didn't they wouldn't be in business.

At this point game makers no longer make money while rental places continue to. AND then they sell the games that fall from popularity for a discounted price and game makers also never see this money.

I brought this up with SHino...He buys used games for his 360. Which I feel is worse than burning them. You only save $2 - $5 on a used game and the game makers make no money on the sale. When I burn the games I play them till they are worthy of purchase then I buy em. ^_^

PLUS the 360 is notorious for scratching game disks and having a backup copy is nice.

It is really fun.
I've killed 4 of the bosses already. My Agility is at 2*, driving at 1*, str at 3* and fire arms at 3*.

Str will be the first to hit 4*. Something fun about just kicking a car with 2 gang members in it and watching it go flying.

Ok, first off, Gamefly (or any other rental service) purchases hundreds of copies of certain games and is forced to buy new copies every time a disc wears out until the game loses popularity. They also pay an inflated cost for the game in order to have the rights to rent it out. Arguing that game companies don't make money this way is like arguing that 20th Century Fox doesn't make any money off of movie rentals. Trust me, the money is there. Rental also stimulates hype about a title and gives people who don't want to pay $50-$60 a game a chance to play and talk about them.

The whole goal of the used/rental market is to get more games in more homes. If video games were only available as expensive investments that you were stuck with forever, only the richest and and most dedicated gamers would even bother to play. Remember video games in the mid 90s? I barely do because my family couldn't afford them. The video game market is bigger in the US than it has ever been right now and I can't see how cheaper games are hurting.
