August 3, 2006 - The next sequel in the series that made Bruce Willis an action star is no longer called Die Hard 4.0. According to Variety, the new title has been announced as Live Free or Die Hard, and it'll be opening on June 29, 2007, a week before the movie industry's big fourth of July weekend.
The fourth, and likely last, Die Hard pits Willis's character John McClane, with good old-fashioned brawn and bullets, against high-tech criminals who plan to crash the technological infrastructure — bank networks, power grids, and so on — of the U.S. via computer, for purposes unknown.
However, while McClane might be stuck in the analog age, a hacker who might just have the skills to take the bad guys to task. (Some reports claim the hacker is also McClane's delinquent son.) The two end up on the bad side of both the villains and the government, pulling out all the stops save the country from collapse.
Shooting begins next month with Len Wiseman (Underworld) directing. Justin Long may play the hacker. IGN will keep you updated as more details are released. |

When I saw the title, I figured that the tag line would be something like, "John McClane goes to New Hampshire". Seriously..."Live Free or Die Hard"? They could have come up with something cooler sounding than that. Die Hard 4.0 sounds MUCH better.
Regardless, I agree with Ultrawolf...I hope that they don't screw this one up...although it already sounds like it might be on that path because of the curse of modernizing. It's Die Hard for Pete's sake! We don't need computers and hackers and crap like that! We need John McClane kicking terrorist asses...and not Middle Eastern terrorists (which is probably the other route they were thinkig about going), but good old fashioned Eastern European, ex-military, non-religious fanatic, "we're-just-out-to-make-billions-of-dollars", "my-name-is-Sven" terrorists. |

This movie was freaking awesome.
Besides the few little issues with video being in sync with audio b/c of editing necessities... It was perfect.
I would go as far as to say Best in Series!
So now they rank best down as 4, 1, 3, 2.  |

Saw it via other means (Bedford's cinema is out of the way unless you drive and we have no one to babysit the sprogling).
It certainly doesn't beat the first one (I dont care what you say Shino!), what could? but its definetly the second best (and again Shino, totally disagree with you on With a Vengence in third, its by far the worst of the series, once all the car chases are over its boring as hell!) |
