August 8, 2007 - It looks like the Elite isn't the only Xbox 360 console around with HDMI support. As reported on Engadget, Premium consoles have begun to appear on store shelves with an HDMI jack in the back. According to the report, consoles manufactured around July 4, 2007 or later have the upgrade. Previously, Premium consoles could only output with VGA, Component, S-Video and RCA cables. HDMI is widely considered the best available audio/video option.
A Microsoft representative confirmed the news to IGN today. "We are offering an HDMI port for Xbox 360 simply as another choice in Xbox 360 owners' games and entertainment experience. Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand."
This new configuration is identical to the Halo 3 themed Xbox 360 due out later this year, with a 20 GB hard drive and HDMI options, which will cost $399.99. That is $50 more than the recently reduced price of a Premium. Apparently the Halo 3 design, a Play and Charge kit, and a few special edition Gamer Pics and Themes are the reason for the extra cost. We have asked Microsoft for further comment on this price discrepancy and are awaiting response. |

Interesting. I'm sure this will please a lot of people. My TV only does 720p/1080i though, so it's not going to be a huge selling point for me. I've been considering getting a newer revision system at some point anyway, so I can get one with the smaller CPU and upgraded cooling. Looks like I'll be getting HDMI compatibility by default then. The Halo 360 is looking pretty cool right now.  |

Thats just the same as the original XBox's horrid see through green verison or the clear version being more expensive than the normal one, same as the Silver PS2's were £20 more than the black ones, so that "Bunch of Tards" statement can be aimed at Sony too. In fact Nintendo have also done it wiith the Pokemon Gameboy Color and N64's, its a limited run, they're going to charge extra for it. |

It wasn't here. At least not that I remember.
I guess I didn't keep up as well at that time. I didn't realize the transparent Xbox machines were more either.
