Has anybody else seen these dollar animes from wall mart?
Space Transformers
Defenders of Space
Space Thunder Kids
If you want to have an Anime MST3K night with your friends pick them up...otherwise set them down and Back Away Slowly!!! 
(just to get the idea in defenders of space earth gets invaded by Nicholas the hypocritcal ruller of the Zinba Empire so a couple of kids use the mighty Phoenix King robot(which bears a strange resemblance to the tracformers generation 1 inferno fire truck) to stop him. |

Crest of the Stars is the same way. It's one of my favourite anime, but it's veeeeeeeery slow moving. ^^ |

Ghost in the Shell(TV Series) is an Enigma to me in that sense. It lures you in with it's very nice production values and story premise. Just when you think you're getting into it, it starts taking a more intellectual look where there's more philosophical conversation between the characters than the actual stopping of the people responsible for whats going on until the last episodes. Yet despite knowing this I still watch it. |

Hahahaha! I've got the last two, and another one called Protectors of Space. These are all Korean anime, or as I like to call them knockoff anime. For years and years, the Koreans have been ripping of popular Japanese anime.
Check out this list. It's pretty much every one of these movies ever made. Be sure to click on them, each one has a page with a bunch of screencaps.

If you notice, there's not a single original idea in there until 1997. Those last three on the list. They still do it sometimes, though.
Lastly, Space Thunder Kids is completely insane. It's not even a real movie. All they did was take a bunch of scenes from three other movies. To make things even crazier, one of the main villains it has is Sark from Tron. It even has a copy of the main battle from Tron. Where Sark's disc gets broken and stuff. Then the main character throws his disc at, and destroys a large monitor with some sort of alien nazi vampire on it. Oh yeah, pretty much all the badguys in these things are alien nazis.
I could go on forever about these things. They're just too much. I highly suggest buying them all if you ever see them. They're only $1, and totally worth it just for the lulz.
Oh yeah. One last tidbit, just to show you how insane Korea is. Bandai cannot copyright the name Gundam over there. You know why? Because for some crazy reason, Koreans refer to all giant robots as Gundams. As such, it is considered a common term and cannot be copyrighted. Like how the term "mecha" is used in Japan. |
