I know there's a handful of PO's out there who already live by this (Sketch and Legend to name a few)
But I have been pretty excited about it and think it's about time I got really into it!

Crap... I already bought David something. Certainly not handmade. My pledge would be a farce. I can, however pledge to make something handmade for you since I know you'll really appreciate it... and honestly, I love doing it! (and I love the handmade things you've made for me.  )

But it's true! I totally give my stamp of approval for etsy shopping for those less inclined for the creative!
I also have been asking those in my "gift exchange" circle not to be pressured to feel they NEED to gift me at all. I don't want to cause that stress for them. If they legitimately want to give me something - that's ok - but I would also gladly unwrap a gift of a hug. (SUPER SAPPY I KNOW). |

That would be really cute! Wrap up tiny gift box with a note inside entitling you to a free hug!!!
You still get that satisfation of tearing open that paper and pulling off the ribbon, but with a much more heartfelt gift inside. |

ha ha, thats really neat that people pleadge to do that. I've always had more in the way of creativity rather than money so I do usually make gifts for my family (and buy them a bit of something too). My mom always cries when she gets hand made stuff^.^ |

<3 I've been doing hand-made gifts the past few years and it is -so- much fun. And guys, even if you're not artistically inclined it's not hard. Oriental Trading usually has a -ton- of really fun and easy craft kits you could modify slightly to personalize and stuff. And nobody expects your hand-made stuff to look professional anyhow.
There's also some easy stuff you could do-- cards are -easy- to do hand-made, and picture frames, painting votive holders and stuff like that-- a lot of painting stuff have stencils you can use. |

This is awesome! I'm proud of you guys that do this (Doot, Legend, Sketch).
Although, I don't think I'm going to make a pledge to do hand-made....I usually do anyway (because I'm a cheapskate XD) but I don't want to feel bad if I don't do it. Besides, there are a lot of things on my "things I do in the name of goodness" list XD (bike/walk/use public trans., recycle, buy local/organic goods, buy used/refurbished as opposed to new, conserve resources, went vegetarian, etc)

Awww, that's so sweet!
I like doing paintings for my family. They like getting them, and plus, it's so hard to shop for several of them because they have the money to buy what they want (and anything that I bought them would be lame). |
