I've recently discovered that annoy me. These are women that I befriend, with no intention or desire to take the relationship further. They confide in me, I give them advice, we bond plutonically. Suddenly she gets a BF and is nowhere to be found. Basically this kind of woman doesn't need a social circle if she has a bf, she only needs him. I'm the "tide-me-over" friend.

That's fucked up. Unfortunately there isn't anyway to tell these women from other women until it's too late. To ladies out there like this, thanks for thinking about the friends you abandon. ( I don't know if there are guys out there that do this too, but over the past 6 months I've experienced this twice and it pisses me off.)

It's not really. I can't hold grudges for anything, lol. Especially after I sleep. I mean it's still fucked up, but I feel better today and it doesn't bug me as much. Thanks for the advice! *goes to start another pic comment string on Tob's facebook*

Yes, there are men who do it as well.

As much as it sucks to "lose" a friend, its sadly a part of life and growing up. I doubt that any of us can say that we keep in touch with our best friends or social circles as much as we did 10 or 15 years ago, and are as truely close now in as many ways, as we were back then.

Things just...change. It's how we adapt to that change, that either allows friendships to remain strong, or they faulter under the lack of socializing that previously was there every day.

Some of mine remain strong, though the distance is great, and quite a few have fallen further and further off the radar as people get thier own lives and families forming. It sucks, I miss them, but I'm not mad...I dont care less. I just accept it for what it is, and smile when the opportunities come along for time to be spent together, though its usually quite limited XD

That I understand, and that's ok. But when they're online and you try to talk to them and they don't respond, and this goes on for like a week, it's a different story Wink

Or you can completely lose touch with them for a few years and then get in contact again Smile
There is a bumper sticker thing on myspace somewhere about that... something about TRUE friendships and really caring about someone not requiring contact with them all the time.

As for being the "tiding over" friend... I've been that. And then I was there again when that relationship went south.

Have a spork (III), and call me in the morning!

Some peeps are just like that, they get a new relationship and get sucked into that bubble...that's why i like sporks, they have enough pointiness to pop that bubble, but with the smoothness so that no one notices it was you who did it.

Have a Spoky Day! *spork
