I watched it over at Saleb's and DocX's. I was muy impressed! I had written a review of it elsewhere so I'll copy and paste. Cuz I'm lazy like that. Wink

I woulda rather seen this BEFORE I went to Matrix 2 (because sadly I was dissappointed with the movie). But I loved the artwork for Kids Story (explains the tagalong kid in Zion - of Neos - in the movie) and Detectives Story (loving the Noir feel to this one). Fantastic work. (would you expect any less from the powerhouse behind Cowboy Bebop?)

I'll admit that Matriculated was a bit of a head trip. But then again most of Peter Chung's (Aeon Flux, and yes he made the pilot AND opening credits to "Rugrats") stuff has this way of making you feel like someone took you apart and put you back together all funky. I could have sworn at one point he had also done World Record but I was mistaken. It of itself was a very awkward feel and a brash taste of distopia.

Beyond had this detached feel to it, like dialog was missing, but VERY cool concept. And when it all came down to it the lack of words made it a beautiful segment.

Was it just me or did the Second Renaissance Part 2 feel like it was done by someone else than the first one? I guess it was the lack of so much animation. Many stills. Still a fantastic piece of work, even though a wee bit difficult at times to watch.

Final Flight was breathtaking. For a second there I thought we were actually watching live actors, and I'll be damned if that first scene wasn't a hot piece of cinema.

Last, but not least, Program. I just love his art style (Ninja Scroll). Good idea for a story. Makes you wish she kicked his ass harder.

All in all I was decently impressed with this. I probably would have felt less let down had I gone and paid $8 to see this in the theater than the movie. But that's just me.

I only watched a few of the extras and "Program" and that Kid story and so far i like it a lot.I agree with you Doot,i loved "Program"..the style is so awesome and that final shot on the roof with the big moon in the background near the end is just beautiful.

I liked it and the rest though...well the man getting torn apart by machines after his mech failed and treated like a ant by a spoiled kid.

Ah, Animatrix. All very good, very, very good.

Final Flight was a great piece in the beginning.

But all the piecs were good, and I believe it a well-spent improvement.

OMG i LOVED detective story! it was awesome, i wanna know what happened next, although i think i prolly know what happened and thats what i dont want to happen.
